Back to this conversation a few weeks ago... if this team came out, played to potential and lost every freaking game.. I won't be as pissed as when we under perform almost weekly and get the "were fine" speech...

I find it unacceptable.. this isn't a inexperienced team anymore.. I expect more I guess.

Honestly 93z, I'm at the point now where I think this team just isn't talented enough. Whether it's the injuries, or some players aging a hell of a lot in one year, when McCarthy constantly cites the same problems (i.e. lack of fundamentals) that are the problems... well either the players are complete idiots or the players aren't up to par to play well enough to win.

Ted's got an awfully tough task of bringing in some D-linemen and OT to help improve this team, both in the short term and long term.

That is very possible, but I said this a couple weeks ago.. along that offensive line we have ran guy after guy through it and the growth looks very limited... that to me, speaks highly of the coaching being subpar.

On the defensive front, we lost Jenkins and that hurt, but we also over estimated that depth we had at DT... Muir was being counted on and he failed to take the next step.. Harrell is being counted on and his only starting to make it on the field.. but look at a different way..

Pickett, Jolly, Cole and Muir were all spacer eaters.. Jenkins and Williams were the guys that could push the interior pocket... and Harrell we have no idea because he can't stay on the field long enough to prove what he is in game action.

It was a strategic error in the preseason not to have a better plan than sliding Hunter and Jenkins inside to help bolster a pass rush from the tackle spot... in addition to shoring up the depth at DE... and we are paying for it weekly.

IMO of course..

I know what Vince Lombardi would have done. There would have been no press conference. He would have been busy standing on the sled that every swinging-richard on this football team would have been hitting repeatedly this AM, AFTER they were running wind-sprints until the strongest amongst them were puking their guts out.

Then he would have started practice. He also would have told the equipment manager to take those "shells" and shove them square up his ass. He would have quit around 8 PM tonight, as he would have to go to confession for all the sadistic shit he dreamed up during the day to make this football team pay for embarassing him.

After confession, he would have planned for more shit tomorrow. He wouldn't have had much interest in keeping these boys fresh...he would have said that philosophy is for girls and winners. He would have told the assembled press that so far we only got the girl part down.

I liked Vince Lombardi.

Any fellow geezers will tell you pretty much this same story. We didn't have the internet to analyze what Vince was doing, but then again we didn't need it. The Green Bay Packers showed us what he was doing during the week... on Sundays... Frankly, a lot of the time it looked like they were happy for the respite from Vince during those games. :thumbleft:

I love Vince Lombardi...

A great NY/NJ Catholic boy who knew how to motivate with the whip and the cross....

He's buried about 15 mins. from where I live.

The only interviews I enjoyed after yesterdays game were Pickett's and Woodson's. Seems like both of them know and admit they got their ass whooped(Woodson even said it flat out) and understand the urgency right now. But as far as Mike McCarthy goes, you will never find him stating the obvious and I'm not 100% sure why.

"YOUR RELIGION, YOUR FAMILY, AND THE GREEN BAY PACKERS WILL BE YOUR PRIORITIES AS LONG AS YOU ARE HERE! AND IN THAT ORDER!"

"I WILL PUT THE FEAR OF GOD IN YOU! I WILL MAKE YOU AFRAID OF ME! I WILL USE FEAR TO GET WHAT I WANT FROM YOU! I WILL MAKE YOU INTO A FOOTBALL PLAYER!"

"YOU HAVE TO HATE YOUR OPPONENT. HATE THEM! SHOW NO MERCY! HELL!... HERE WE ARE WITH THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD, AND YOU DON'T CARE ENOUGH TO LEARN THE AUDIBLES OR STEP WITH THE RIGHT FOOT. YOU LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF CATTLE OUT "THERE"! YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO HATE ENOUGH!"

"LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, GENTLEMEN! IF YOU DON'T SHOW ME BY THURSDAY THAT YOU HATE THE COLTS TO MY SATISFACTION, I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL HATE ME SO MUCH BY SUNDAY YOU WILL WANT TO KILL THOSE OTHER GUYS ACROSS FROM YOU, THIS IS A PROMISE."

The rookie Bill Curry quickly surmised: "This was not Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech football was a petting zoo. THIS WAS THE JUNGLE!"

(Are you perplexed by the inconsistencies of your team this year?)
Well, I don't share the same opinion as you as far as the inconsistencies up until this point. I thought clearly in the New Orleans game that based on the score, when you lose by three scores, that's a sound defeat. But I don't think I've ever stood here after a game and felt that way. I think for the most part, our level of execution, there has been some consistency. We didn't play well enough. Our record reflects that at 5-6. I'm not going to stand up here and tell you how good we played. That's not my point. But I think for the most part as a football team, we've been consistent in the games that we've been in. We've had opportunities to win almost I'd say every football game until this point against New Orleans.

This quote from Marvelious Mike caught my attention...WTF didn't he watch the Cowboy game????

Yeah, that Cowboys game was ugly. No idea what he is talking about.

beast (5h) : Sounds like no serious injuries from the Saints game and Jacobs and Watson should play in the Vikings game
packerfanoutwest (10h) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (12h) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (22h) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (22h) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (22h) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (22h) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
Zero2Cool (22h) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
beast (23-Dec) : Mucky, I thought the ad revenue went to the broadcasting companies or the NFL, at least not directly
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think the revenue share is moot, isn't it? That's the CBA an Salary Cap handling that.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : i mean game becomes irrelevant if we win tonight. Just a game where we are trying to play spoilers to Vikings chance at the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, I would guess ad revenue from more eyes watching tv
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I would think it would hurt the home team because people would have to cancel last minute maybe? i dunno
beast (23-Dec) : I agree that it's BS for fans planning on going to the game. But how does it bring in more money? I'm guessing indirectly?
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : bs on flexing the game....they do it for the $$league$$, not the hometown fans
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I see what you did there Mucky
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : dammit. 3:25pm
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Packers Vikings flexed to 3:35pm
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Upon receiving the news about Luke Musgrave, I immediately fell to the ground
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Yeah baby!
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : LUKE MUSGRAVE PLAYING TONIGHT~!~~~~WOWHOAAOHAOAA yah
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (23-Dec) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (23-Dec) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (23-Dec) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (23-Dec) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (23-Dec) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (23-Dec) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
