I have to give Drew Brees some credit here though. He was on fire tonight. The play that stands out in my mind was where Woodson went for the INT on that short route and was left waving at air as Brees zipped it in there perfectly.

He had it dialed in tonight that is for sure.. might be the smartest QB in the game and he has vision that is impressive.

Doesn't hurt when you are sitting in the pocket with little threat.. check Kampman and then just pick them apart.

exactly right. We were right there all night... just miliseconds late...which is a direct result of no pass rush to force things. You can't just frustrate a QB... or a WR it has to be both. We just didn't even sneeze near Drew Brees last night.

This game was upsetting to me,special teams was horrible gave up alot of yards, the on side kick d-line where were you,A-rod tried to make things happen hence interceptions thing is he made a good t.d.he did keep us in the game, but when your d-line gives up that many points. They need to play smarter I agree with Keshawn the pack is like Jekyll and Hyde you never know which one will show up.Well we know now.

Once again Mike abandoned the run. Our Offense became hurry up and try to score so we don't get behind, but it ended up being a big reason why we lost. 2 picks turned right into scores on a VERY short field(I missed the third because I shut off the tv) which the Saints had too many times last night thanks to Frost and Aaron.

I don't even want to get started on the defense. I will say I want to see Aaron Rouse next week over Bigby.

Things I observed last night:

1) Kampman played his heart out. Too bad we didn't have an end on the other side that could even get close. Not even once. When you let a QB like Bree's step up in the pocket he will find Colston and others nearly every time for big gains.

Look, we need a bonafide pass rusher on the right side and Jenkins coming from the middle. Now were not going to get that this year but that is what we are missing.

For me whether we make the playoffs or not is really not an issue anymore because we cannot expect to move on without that pressure. Teams like the Giants with Eli and even the Cowboys with Romo will chew us up and spit us back out.

It is what it is. We are going nowhere with one guy getting any penetration and what is frustrating is this is a pretty darn talented football team other than this critical element.

I hear talk about Thompson getting better, blah, blah, blah. We need a stud over there creating hell for the QB every time he goes back to pass and somebody crashing from the middle.

Jenkins going down and KGB regressing from a "pass rush specialist" to a non-factor has really hurt this football team.

Eh, this is one time I won't make the criticism that he abandoned the run too early. We stuck with it well for a half, hoping to grind out the clock a little more and not let New Orleans on the field so much. The only problem was, our D could NOT stop them. Not even once. Once they went up 10 and then 17 it was sort of too late to play the balanced offense / clock eating game, especially when we couldn't do anything to prevent them from scoring.

thats right... when your down 3 touchdowns... its a little retarded to stick to the run.

Warhawk said it. Pass rush. the rest of the team played well. I mean we put up 21 points in the first half. you can't ask an offense to do much more than that especially with a first year starter behind center. Secondary and linebackers did what they could do (even though the safeties had a down game) but without any pressure any QB of Drew Brees caliber is gonna exploit you.

Look at the Indy win and the Chicago win. big plays in the secondary caused directly by pressure on the QB. Its really as simple as that. Rush the QB win the game. and im not blaming it on injuries either... we just don't have the good of a Dline and somethings need to be added.

If we bring in a pass rusher (and draft one as well) and then have the luxury of moving Cullen inside... its a whole new ball game.

We NEED that push up the middle that Jenkins brought. NO QB out there can cope with a push from the middle. It completely changes the QB's ability to see the field AND makes him move right or left. With a good rush from both DE's there is no where to go.

We seldom ever bring pressure from the middle and that will doom us in the end.

If you go back to the Vikes game Arod had fits because of the push from the center. With Clfton also having a bad day Arod was forced to run to his right over and over. He had a great day completing passes to the ball boy on the sidelines and while Allen was huge that day it was the middle pressure that would not allow Arod to step up that hurt him more than Allen.

Brett Favre can sidestep pressure from the right or left and step up in the pocket better than anybody ever but when teams penetrated from the middle it causes him fits.

Here's the deal. The rules favor the receivers because the NFL wants big plays and scoring. Big plays and scoring TD's brings crowds. If the league let CB's bump WR's downfield and mug them then teams would go back to running the ball 40 times a game and scoring would drop dramatically.

You offset receivers not being touched after five yards with a pass rush. Period. You can't ask DB's to run with receivers all over the field.
