... We need change. There's over 20 mil of our cap tied up in 52 and 53 to NOT have a pass rush? These weren't two failed FA additions...they were our own drafted and developed overpays.

Perhaps, it's time to attack the defensive woes by getting a new guy to stock the cupboard and coordinate it's contents?

How do you have over 20 Million tied up in pass rushers to not have a pass rush and have it be one of your pressing draft needs? Who is accountable? No one? Just let the same GM draft and same DC coordinate? Who could be for that?

Why are things like this glossed over year after year while no blame is ever levied? Someone needs to take the fall if not multiple someone's.

Clay is over 15 million all by himself.

Thankfully, Clay has no cap hit when released this offseason. I guess he could be extended on more cap friendly deal. He's 11.4 against cap, if he plays out his deal.

Nick Perry needs more moves other than simply over powering T's because by the 4th quarter he's toast. Perry does beat his guy a lot, but doesn't have the speed to capitalize.
Clay Matthews is not an inside linebacker, he doesn't have what it takes.

Matthews is a $11,400,000 cap hit for 2018 with no dead money if released.
Perry is a $10,900,000 cap hit for 2018 with $14,800,000 dead money if released.

Matthews can be released, Perry should be kept.

$5,925,000 for Nick Perry in 2017 and $20,200,000 dead money if released.
$15,075,000 for Clay Matthews in 2017 with $14,575,000 dead money if released.

21 million to not have a pass rush. WHO is responsible? That is the question within this thread.

We can't or don't want to address the elephant in the room? Someone or multiple someone's need to take the fall. This is not acceptable and has to be addressed not covered under the same crap we hear year after year.

I do believe it is our outside rush that is lacking. A few years ago we had the outside rush but QBs could step up to avoid it. this year we were solid up front only to be lacking from the edge. We way overpaid for Matthews and probably for Perry, though there wasn't much choice with Perry, either bring him back for what the market demands or let him go and not have anybody to replace him with.

I can just imagine the Ted haters here next year if we don't resign Matthews and nobody steps up in his place complaining about how we could let him walk. But that is the easy part of being an armchair GM with hindsight. I expect Matthews to be extended for probably 2 years turning his salary into signing bonus and dropping his cap number for the 11.4million to somewhere around 5million. Along with Matthews Rodgers, Jordy and Cobb should all have their contracts reworked, between the 4 we could clear in the range of 20million in cap space.

Thought this was going to be a thread about Rodgers and starting Hundley and my head was ready to cave itself in on my desk lol.

But yes, absolutely agree we should let Clay walk. He's not going to extend for the amount of money he's actually worth to this team - he'll get more elsewhere.

So, PFWT...nobody is responsible for 21 million of our cap being allocated to the OLB position and still not having a pass rush? We drafted Biegel, also. Shifting focus to armchair GMs?

Who is responsible? This is the shame of this regime. An environment such as this has been created where fans will not even question what is happening. Reality ignored for flowery words and created auras believed over actual facts. I've lost faith in the majority of our fan base and of course our management. It's a sick state of affairs around this organization when someone can't reconcile paying 21 million for no pass rush and it needing addressing in the offseason. Bizarro world.

There really isn't a WHO responsible, it was the circumstances at the time. I wasn't a fan of Clay's contract, but it was the going rate at the time. I thought they should have waited on his deal but doing that also could have resulted in costing us even more as the market rates tend to increase. I don't see letting him go at the time being an option either. Watching the ARM CHAIR GM's freak when non-starters are not resigned, I can only imagine what they would have said if they had let clay go when he was playing like a defensiveMVP.

There is nobody around who said we should not have kept Clay, or not have Signed Perry. Doing either was never an option. We could say that maybe they should have renegotiated Clays deal already but that would require Clay being willing also and none of us know if that was an option. And there is no idea what the team would be like today had they gone a different route. We would still be paying somebody and the odds of the team being better isn't likely.

This is unreal. There isn't a who? It's all just circumstance as if NOBODY created these circumstances? It's the angry armchair GMs that the focus needs to shift to not the org that created this mess? Un freaking real.

I'm at a loss for words to describe the bizarre mentality expressed here. It goes beyond delusion.

The truth is that we were on the hook for too much dead money so we compounded the mistake of Clay by spending on Nick creating 21 million of garbage. We paid more for Clay and Julius but at least got some bang for the buck out of that.

What is happening THIS SEASON is an atrocity for 21 million but, in true Packers fan fashion NOBODY is accountable or responsible? Um... Let's talk about most improved players instead.

Fan Shout
Zero2Cool (8h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (11h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (11h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (12h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (12h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (12h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (13h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (13h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (13h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (13h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (13h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (13h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (13h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (13h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (15h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (15h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (15h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
