I'm not sure a franchise QB salary is holding us back. I think the QB salary is pretty damn fair.

According to Spotrac  there are 9 teams who have more money allocated to the QB position than the Packers. One of them is the Vikings, who seem to have a helluva defense.

A big piece is getting big production out of first-contract rookies. Packers have not gotten enough impact players on the defensive side of the ball and some of our best defensive youngsters are good, not great. Injuries definitely haven’t helped this year or others but the bottom line is that the team’s been underperforming. If the defense can’t turn it around I could see Capers gone after this season. I like him, but at some point you need to make a change even if just to try something new

Think of the 'psycho' package and a lot of the other really unusual fronts he's put off to compensate for who he's got healthy. This year, he hasn't really been able to make any adjustments that have worked and the defense (although to be fair, it's the whole team) looks at many times lethargic and uninspired. Not saying he can't turn it around, but he needs to do it quick.

Third down efficiency ended up being 8/15 but those last four that were made were all in the second half. Get some first downs, burn some clock and it's a different story.

I mean they picked off a first ballot HoF'er twice.

would it surprise anyone that our defensive spending is ranked 21st in the league and that our defense also ranks 21st? Or that Seattle defense spending ranks 1st and their defense also ranks 1st?

We are actually doing pretty good with our QB spending. We are paying between 12-13% of our cap to QB which isn't out of the norm. When I look at our spending, it is that we are only spending 17% of our cap on LBers and only a total of 39% on defense as a whole. The question is how going forward do they manage to even the balance between offense and defense and positional on defense also. They are going to have to renegotiate with Rodgers, Cobb and Jordy.

I guess to much to ask to have the spending somewhat balanced.

Mucky Tundra (5-Jan) : Well that didn't take long; Jerod Mayo out as Patriots HC
Zero2Cool (5-Jan) : I would expect it to be higher in favor of Eagles
Mucky Tundra (5-Jan) : Thst line seems...generous
