Once Aaron is gone, we will have much more money to spend on other players.

So if your team has a Tom Brady or an Aaron Rodgers that offer great value in the "now" , extending their salaries forward in order to free up Cap money to hire better players in order to win now makes good sense. After all that expense will decrease in the future as a % of a team's Cap expenses as revenues increase (and they will) .

The point is that when a team, like GB, is lucky enough to have a QB like Aaron Rodgers , then every effort must be made to get the maximum benefit while such a resource is currently available . As for a Post Rodgers Packer"s, new future management will need to be aggressive about attaining the best talent just as other teams will be. Hoping that your draft picks will pan out just won't cut it moving forward .
