Ted Thompson came to The Packers in 2005, that year The Patriots win their 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years.
5 years later after the 2010 season The Packers won Their 4th Super Bowl. 1st under Ted Thompson.
Jump ahead to 2015.
The Patriots win.their 4th SB.
Took them 10 years to win another.
I wonder if The Patriot fans wanted the GM/Coach fired for not putting a good enough defense on the field ?
I wonder if Patriot fans complained every year that Belicheck was wasting their future HOF qb's career by not putting a good enough defense on the field?
I wonder if other Patriot fans blamed Tom Brady for not performing at a HOF level when it came to crunch time in the playoffs 2006-2014?
Losing in the playoffs sucks!
Never getting a chance to lose in the playoffs REALLY SUCKS!

Keep in mind since Ted has been GM, THE ONLY team to win more games then The Packers is The Patriots!
Up until last year The both had the same number of rings .......1.

Keep in mind it took THE WORST call ever made by a HC for The Patriots to beat Seattle.

Keep in mind it took THE BIGGEST COLLAPSE in SB history for them to beat Atlanta.

Another season is right around the corner .
The goal of EVERY team this time of year, EVERY year, is to win The Super Bowl.
In reality there are only 12 teams that have that chance at the end.
The Packers have been part of that 12, 9 years running
Looks to me that they have once again assembled a pretty good group of guys to field another SB contender
Enjoy the games, let's see where The Packers are at in January !
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

There is a pretty small margin between the team that loses in the championship round and the team that loses in the SB. In some years you would have a good argument to say that one of the teams that loses in the CC is probably better than the SB loser, depending on overall conference strength.

In the last 10 years, only one team has been to the CC game more than the Packers (3), the Patriots.

The Pats have been 5 times in a row which is pretty insane. 3/2 in CC games, 1/3 in superbowls.

The 49ers went 3 times in a row, with two CC loses and a SB loss to show for it.

The Seahawks, for all of their hype have been to the CC twice, won both times but only have one SB win to show for it, so it's hard to say they've done better than GB. Ditto for Denver.

So, if the argument is the Packers suck or aren't doing enough because they haven't been as successful as the Patriots - I guess that's technically correct, but only barely.

Coach McCarthy knows that few in the NFL have the knowledge and experience that Dom Capers brings to the job of GB's Defensive Coordinator . Yet we all know that there is a point where the coaching must translate into on field performance. Last seasons final contest made that crystal clear as Matt Ryan burned the Packers with over 380 yds and 4 TDs . It is for just that reason that Kevin King was drafted and Davon House brought back as a FA .

GB's CB play should look radically different in 2017 . In turn , their coverage of opposing WR/TE could increase LB's pressure on opposing QBs.

The 2017 GB Training Camp will be extremely interesting . [cheers]

I would say this is a make or break year for Capers. If he can't get the D to play decently, then I think he will be gone.
He supposedly has better players then he had last year, so he better prove he can motivate these guys.
Ted Thompson let Casey Hayward go.....I STILL don't forgive him for that bonehead move.

Once again, it's not Capers... and that's why he's not in a make or break year.
Also why even have a make/break year? If you get to that point, why not just release him and start over? I guess I'm asking, if it's really that bad (which it's not) then why wait a year? Do it now, or [zipmouth] it. (FYI, I'm not telling you to zip, just saying I don't understand why someone would wait if there was no reason to wait)

So teams fill the gaps in the offseason and suddenly, we're better and everything is going to be perfect! ... but in reality, you fix one hole, and another hole might open up... (which also assume you correct fixed the first hole, which is often a wrong assumption in the NFL).

But I think it's fair to say that the Packers CBs should be better than last year if they're able to stay healthy (because they weren't healthy last year and we got two new guys in House and King).

But there are also new holes, namely behind Matthews and Perry...
I mean if OLB didn't rotated that often, and they were a sure thing to stay healthy and at 100%, I don't think there would be a problem... but pass rushers rotate quite a bit, and Matthews and Perry don't exactly have the best track records of staying healthy. Also their #1 back-up in Fackrell doesn't either... while he clearly flashed a couple of times which his pass rush, he also dealt with injuries last year (and I believe two of his last three years).

And there are always hidden holes... like CB was last year... with Shields, Randall, Rollins and Gunter most didn't think CB would be a problem... they were perfectly fine going into the season without Hayward and even a CB short (as they normally keep 6 and only were carrying 5).

wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
