No way I even consider bringing Peppers back. He's done. Been done for awhile now. Should've let him go before this season.
Starks release should create some decent dead money due to the ridiculous contract we gave to him. One of the worst in Ted's tenure.
Perry can't be given a long term huge deal. He's in the Hayward category. A talented player who is either unavailable to ineffective due to injury. Love Perry like Hayward but how can you pay big money on a long term for him? Another 1 year or 2 year is most I'd offer and he'll likely attract a much better offer. Might play his pants off elsewhere like Casey but business wise it's a good move to let him sign elsewhere. Yes, I reserve the right to rip Ted when we create zero pressure and Perry is healthy and posting double digit sacks.
Lacy I let walk. We have Montgomery and Michael. That's a decent start. Lacy is an overweight injury waiting to happen. We might be able to get him back for peanuts and only then do I do it.
Lang is the toughest to figure. I once thought Sitton's release increased his odds of resigning...now, I think the opposite because we plugged a scrub in there and we've been just fine. TJ is a fine player but not sure he's worth what he'll command. I suppose I'd pay him well IF I only have Barclay's behind him. Spriggs looks like a disaster so far, so letting a good OL go might be even more difficult.
We need CB's who can cover. Randall and Rollins look like Ahmad Carroll and Pat Lee. See what I did there. Busted 1st and 2nd round DB picks. Sam Shields can't possibly be coming back with his issues, can he?
We need guys who can pressure the QB. Clay is done. I'd try to replacing his deal with one much more cap friendly. He's grossly overpaid. I hate to lose Perry but can't give him a big long term. Fackrell better be able to play. Elliott. Someone.
D looks hopeless again for next year to me. Draft and develop ain't been fixing it because what's been drafted ain't developing and we don't go outside to get talent good talent we need. I expect more of the same or worse from this D next year.
Tretter is a definite re-sign for me. Excellent center and I think he can play other places on the line. Much rather pay him well for utility role than to have a Barclay lurking or the aforementioned Spriggs.
Guion may have to be resigned. I suppose it depends on how much they like Brian Price. If that gap isn't that great in their minds it's bye bye. We're famous for this kind of thing.
If we keep going Hyde is gone and will benefit from Dexter Jackson syndrome. He'll be some crazy overpay if we win Lil' Vinny.
Datone is a guy I let go unless it's a crazy favorable deal for us. A bust for a 1st rounder. He should be paying us.
Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."
