What did Aaron have to gain by making the statement 6 games ago? He could've just said that in the locker room, too. Aaron is SMART. He KNEW the schedule that was before them. It was WEAK. He made his little statement and was hailed as if he was Joe Namath. Now, he has a chance to actually be Namath and says...nothing.
The logic isn't poor. He absolutely could be confident they can win it all but I doubt that very much. He doesn't want to look STUPID because he's SMART, therefore, he said...NOTHING.
Perhaps, it was knowing the Giants were upcoming. I guess just thinking about the Giants in the playoffs makes him feel like he's rubbing up against some kryptonite. If you just unloaded some bravado because you knew you were going to do something you thought was easy, it sure would be a lot harder to unload any bravado knowing the team that has ended you multiple times and at home after a 15-1 season because you had a terrible defense would make it feel all too familiar.
I would bet the ranch if we had the fortune of knowing we got to play the Raiders and Texans and then the Chiefs in the playoffs he would be saying a version of run the table II.
Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."
