UFDA, what would he gain by telling the press we were going to run the table?

I see the negative side where he's providing locker room material for the opposing team, but I don't see how it would help the team.

If I were AR, the locker room is where I'd be saying that, not to the papers.

I have been grilled for speaking of similar things. When it was known that Sam's injury would be a long term blow to our defense - I think Ted could have gotten us someone to minimize the effects of losing our top CB. Some say that maybe there wasn't a significant game changer willing to come to GB - hard to say, but I would think we could hook someone that can at least play. I think we CAN and SHOULD make comparisons to New England, as we should be on the same level of play.

That said - I am ready to enjoy some playoff football. We shall see if they can overcome.

Also, who would we have had to give up to sign said impact player, why do you think that player would be magically immune to the injury bug when nobody else was, and why do you think it would make enough of a difference in a situation like this to have ONE more serviceable CB when we have 2-3 massive holes?

It's too late in the season to pick someone up off the streets no matter what they skill level is on offense of defense. I trust someone who's been in the system all season for than I do some random free agent. That being said, a specialist like a returner, I'd have less concerns about, but we've got our returners now and Herb's done some of that too.

Why give Good teams more bulletin board material.

His "I think we can run the table" wasn't aimed at any team in particular. Now, you KNOW who is in front of you, and you need to be smart.

Seriously, I understand what you guys are getting at - you don't just call someone and they appear on the team. It takes a lot of paper work, negotiations, shuffling a roster... list goes on. All of that said I am not willing to believe that the front office did everything they could to improve the situation.

Charles Tillman wants to join Packers for Super Bowl ring
Charles Tillman played for the Bears from 2003-2014 and played for the Panthers in 2015.

The former Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers cornerback retired from the NFL after the 2015 season, but he still wants a Super Bowl ring. So he went to Twitter on Tuesday night and asked Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers if the team still need cornerbacks because he would love to help the Packers run the table.

cbssports.com wrote:

No clue if he's in any kind of shape at all, but if he is almost HAS to be better than a UDFA WR who has never played even one play at CB in college/pros. šŸ˜

In case it is not obvious, I'm not serious...

Aaron Rodgers in his whole career has never made a playoff guarantee and now suddenly we're supposed to think it's a big deal that he didn't do it this year... yeah, ok. I never heard it questioned in any other season we've played.

"Run the table" is a very specific verifiable after the fact cliche. We DID run the table so it was very natural to ask him about the playoffs and he turtled into some well worn truism that was no predictor or push toward anything.

I see it as a very different scenario than to simply say he never did it before any other playoff run. Yes, again, when did he ever utter run the table or any other similar phrase with 6 games remaining? He didn't...but he did this year. Perfectly natural to expect he would offer something of substance but he didn't meaning he clearly lacked the confidence he had looking at 6 cupcakes ahead.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because theyā€™ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Zero2Cool (2h) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (2h) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (3h) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (3h) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (3h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (3h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (3h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (3h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (3h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (3h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (3h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (3h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (3h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (3h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (3h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (4h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (4h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (4h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (4h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (4h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (4h) : Packers will get in
beast (4h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (4h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (6h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (7h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (17h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (17h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (21h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak
