Rinse and repeat, make Cousins look like Mariota, make Reed look like D.Walker, let them score 40+ points, watch the offense try to get close while the defense can't stop a mailbox...

The Glass Half full:

- R.Cobb: He went to DC to play the game, several nice plays with yards after catch. Good routes, and great blocking.
- J.Cook: With Rodgers in good shape Cook is our version of Gronk, he run very nice routes and is a very nice target for the offense.
- D. Bakthiari: The OL is depleted and Bak is an immovable object, he is playing an excellent season.

The Glass Half empty:

- Ted Thompson: Our secondary is garbage, Burnett, HaHa, Gunter, Hyde, Rollins, Randall they just can't cover. He is in this section because he made a huge mistake with Randall and Rollins and it will take us years to recover from it.
- L. Gunter: What can I say? It is hard to describe how often he was burned and in ridiculous ways.
- M. Burnett: Always late to help in coverage, horrible tackling in open field, he is a small LB not a safety and he is not a playmaker.
- Ha Ha CD: Take this kid out of the field, he is utterly confused. Maybe we can recover him but it needs a rest.
- D. Capers: Let teams like the Titans and Redskins score 40+ points let Mariota and Cousins look like Joe Montana, let them score in every single possession of the game, make ridiculous blitzes and leave everybody wide open, never touch the QB. Oh Dom...

Again it is over and just waiting until we clear the house.

Honestly Randall is not a good CB he was getting burned badly before his injury.

I remember when Troy Brown (did I say white? must be the Trump effect!) was used to play DB for the Pats at some snaps because they had nobody better, key difference? They still won their games.

Because so many times a WR came in to play CB admirably we are going to throw that in here? What a joke. Troy Brown had folks like Vince Wilfork, Rodney Harrison, Tedy Bruschi, Ted Johnson, Willie McGinest and Mike Vrabel when he came in for Ty Law. They also had RB Corey Dillon who racked up over 1,600 yards rushing that kept the defense off the field and extended offensive drives. You catching on that this isn't an Apples to Apples thing here yet?

If you watch the secondary, it's clear as day that Morgan Burnett and Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix are trying to do too much and need to go back to worrying about their jobs, respectively.

The only positives I recall are Jared Cook looked pretty good and Randall Cobb appears to be coming back into the form we're used to seeing. Aaron Rodgers was a little more accurate and helped keep my Fantasy playoffs hopes ever so slightly alive. And before you start blasting Cook for that fumble, try to show some respect to Josh Norman and understand that was a helluva play by Norman more than it was a bad play by Cook.

It's insane how both the Tackles are hobbled and can't walk without a limp, yet they somehow haven't got Aaron Rodgers murder killed ... yet.

Morgan Burnett, Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, Sam Shields and Damarious Randall are a really good quartet, when healthy. The problem is Shields is probably done career-wise and Randall gets burned when he doesn't have all of his speed. Thankfully the coaching staff saw this and sat his ass down before fans start questioning how good of a player he is.

Quentin Rollins is a solid too, but so raw.

If the entire defensive coaching staff were to be removed, I wouldn't be upset. I do like Darren Perry and Joe Whitt Jr, but I would prefer a clean start with someone new if the coordinator is let go.

It's comical how fans want a blitz, yet want 8 in coverage. Seriously, do you understand math? You only get 11 dudes on the field!! hahaha

Oh, in the tone of the thread here about glass full ... glass full thought ... at least we won't suffer a disappointing lackluster playoff loss. 🙂

YES! When people complain about the blitz creating open receivers... I'm not lets both credit the other team's protection and also say hmm maybe our guys just aren't that good.

I also agree about Cook I put it in the glass half full and he played a great game, the fumble is just a fumble, great play by Norman and we weren't thinking about ball security at that point of the game.
We also agree about not being upset if the entire defensive coaching staff were to be removed.

I disagree about your assessment of the secondary. I think Morgan Burnett is just a backup in a good team, he is not a true safety and is now playing a LB-SS hybrid were he is not very good at neither position. I think Randall is garbage, I hope to be wrong but he is not a CB, maybe he can play well as a FS but covering guys like Julio Jones is really not his thing.
Shields is a good CB but I can't be sure about his future.
Clinton Dix is a mistery I though he was becoming a very good player but has now regressed to mr irrelevant. I've been following his play in the last games and I believe it is 40% scheme and 60% lack of talent. As you said he is asked to do too many things but when he needs to do something on his own he is always erring, it amazes me how often he is very late to the play because of a missread and how common are the communication errors with the DBs. For some reason Capers keeps playing a soft zone when the CBs release too early and the safeties are doing "something else" which invariably leads to disaster.
The guy not mentioned is Josh Hawkins, the little I saw him playing it looked like a prototypical CB to me so again I can't understand why we are using Gunter and Hyde when it is clear they can't cover anything faster than a mailbox.

Josh made a good play at the Lions and followed it up with a blown play for a long touchdown. We literally have zero options.

Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix heard the chants of him coming into "his own" and he's trying to live up to that pressure. He's trying TOO MUCH with the youth and inexperienced Cornerbacks. If we had Shields and Randall each game, the dude would be in line for top 5 Safety in the NFL. He just needs to stop that crap and just do his job.

Damarious Randall is a good cover corner, when healthy. We saw him being torched because he thought he could get the job done with Shields out even at 60-70% speed. He can't. He's raw too (like Rollins) and absolutely needs his closing speed to compensate for his rawness.

Ladarius Gunter strength is bump n run. We seem to play 10-12 yard cushions hoping we don't get beat. Then our Safeties creep up to help and look into the backfield and .... TOASTY! lol

Micah Hyde is capable of being the primary cover guy for a Tight End with a Safety over the top, or flip it and have a LB check the TE with Hyde over the top. Hyde cannot cover man to man.

Let's face it.....the season is over for us. All that is left is playing out the rest of the games.
I really thought this team would be good this year, but they aren't going anywhere but home for the playoffs.
I can really see us going winless the rest of the season.
We have NO defense. And too many mistakes on offense to win anything.
It's sad, really. The only good thing is, we are still ahead of the Bears (for now at least)

Not only is Bakhtiari continuing to play at a high level he's tough as hell. This guy upped his game last year despite I believe having torn ligaments in his ankle now this year playing with a knee injury. You can see the guy having trouble even getting himself off the turf throughout the game yet once he's up all he does is line up and stonewall the man across from him.
