CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY RB, Stanford
The Green Bay Packers are trying to figure out how to utilize the running back position without Eddie Lacy and James Starks for the next month or so. The lack of depth at the position has been made evident with receivers Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb taking the majority of snaps in the backfield on Thursday against the Chicago Bears.
While the Packers may still have faith in Lacy moving forward, they need a different kind of running back to make plays in this offense. Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey could be a perfect fit for Mike McCarthy’s system.
McCaffrey is a complete offensive weapon, using his speed and vision to make plays in the running and passing game. His production has taken a huge dip this season due to Stanford’s ineffective offense, but that wouldn’t be the case with Aaron Rodgers in front of him.
Utilizing McCaffrey like they used Montgomery this past week could completely change the way Green Bay’s offense operates. Given their struggles at times this season, that’s definitely a good thing.
