Grr! Sitton was all mad because Bak got an extended? This is the most ridiculous thing ever stated, ever! And Trump stated Hillary and Obama founded ISES. Shame on anyone trying to reduce Sitton to a caddy debutante.

Ya know, Sitton is the type of a person that would rather be known as someone who used a racial slur [which does not necessarily make one a bigot], than someone known for not being loyal to or being jealous of a friend. And he might rather be known as a bigot, rather than disloyal. Note: one of Sitton’s long-time friends is Leger Douzable, who is black, Sitton is not a bigot; but that doesn’t mean he didn’t say the wrong thing last Saturday. This loyalty is one of Sitton’s greatest strengths; and its shameful for one to pull down their pants and take a dump on that.

Sitton and Bak were CLOSE, really close. Bak landed in Colorado and upon learning the news on his landing immediately jumped on the next plane back to GB. Loyalty is one of Bak’s strengths as well. Sitton signed in Chicago so he and Kristen could remain close to their prime circle of friends; it was NOTHING like Favre’s moronic quest for vengeance. Sitton’s problem would not, could not be the extension of Bak.

I’m glad Bak was not on the 1265 grounds, until he had a few hours for emotions to settle. Surely, Bak’s temper was a factor considered by Ted when deciding to extend Bak. The guy has a flash-temper matched only by Dick Butkus. Being a rookie/young player trying to make it can cause the suppression of any personality/character trait. Now that he’s made it the drive to suppress will not be as great. Or the money could take the edge of that rage; which might affect his play. To date, Bak has properly channeled that rage, this is why he got a 52M extension.

Ted didn’t need Sitton’s 5.5M; to extend Bak. Ted has NEVER or will ever cut a viable vet playing up to his contract, especially so late, super especially after he came to camp lighter as instructed. Ted doesn’t act rash, especially in regard to money matters, he’s anal if anything. All the facts, ALL OF THEM, point to that, a week ago Friday, Ted went to bed knowing Sitton was his LG; and then he got cut on Saturday. Two things, like Sitton’s departure and Bak’s signing, happening at the same time, does not establish, ipso facto, a causal relationship.

The real story, it's unfolding right in front of our eyes.

No team can keep ALL their free agents, the salary cap won't allow it.

Lane Taylor was given an extension last year.

Looking back that should have been the 1st clue.

Looks like Bahks gurantees will be 27mil.

That can now be spread out over 5 years(includes this year) because it was an extension.

As others have said, this will look like a bargain by 2018.

Really good LT's don't grow on trees.
Bshktiari is Really Good and will only get better.

I hope that 17 isn't all signing bonus, I'd rather if they paid him as much as possible of that as salary this year and not have it spread. Looks like we had about 11 million and change cap space after releasing Sitton.

The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Rnd. Pick NFL team Player
1 1 Kansas City Chiefs Eric Fisher
1 2 Jacksonville Jaguars Luke Joeckel
1 4 Philadelphia Eagles Lane Johnson
1 11 San Diego Chargers D. J. Fluker
1 19 New York Giants Justin Pugh
2 42 Oakland Raiders Menelik Watson
3 75 New Orleans Saints Terron Armstead
3 89 Houston Texans Brennan Williams
4 109 Green Bay Packers David Bakhtiari

2013 tackles selected up to Bakhtiari. I would say outside of Terron Armstead, Bakhtiari has been one of the better performing LT from this draft class. I remember the initial fear everyone had back in 2013 when Bulaga went down and we were going to have to depend on our 4th round draft pick. I would say he has handled the position very well and has progressed from year to year.

Like others have said, the contract he has now will look like a bargain in two years. Glad they got this done.

If so I believe you are right about it counting all in one year (2017 if what I heard is correct) or this year if it were a roster bonus this year and only the 17 million can be prorated. That would make his hit pretty big next year. (10 million in roster bonus, a touch over 3 in signing bonus plus salary. of course they probably made his base salary next year very small what with the roster bonus and all. DB will get a big check up front and a relatively small weekly check for 17 weeks and if he is suspended (lets say for a personal foul type infraction) he won't lose much because they can't dock his roster bonus.

As far as paying more this year I don't think its as big a deal now that they can roll unused salary over. Back when it was use it or lose it it made sense (I think that's what we did with Woodson, we had a lot of cap space so we gave him a big guaranteed first year salary and a very small signing bonus. If he hadn't worked out we could have cut him after the first year with very little dead money.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
