Let's see:

Jordy Nelson: Coming back from a very serious injury and he is 32.
Randall Cobb: He is very good if he manages to stay healthy but only plays the slot.
Dropante Adams: He is average with Rodgers, he can be really funny under David Carr or Blaine Gabbert.
Ty Montgomery: His ankle is not good yet, unproven and unhealthy.
Jeff Janis: Broken Hand, in 3 years could only learn one route.
Jared Abbrederis: He can get concussed from sun exposure, runs good routes, never give him an insurance policy.
Trevod Davis: Allegedly very fast but has shown nothing in preseason.
Geronimo Allison: Slow receiver with a funny name that runs polished routes.

And we are so loaded we could make a deal? Sorry but this is too funny.

Rather than compete for waived players, why not make it a sure thing with another team that needs a #3 or 4 DB or WR? It's a no brainier, IMO.

what kind of DL are you going to get in a trade for someone like Abbraderis? Probably not one good enough that you'd bother starting over Guion or Clark. Then he's even more useless in just 4 weeks when Pennell is back. Just a pointless move unless you get some kind of steal of a trade (not likely). Just keep Price or Ringo to start the season. All you are looking for is a body to get you through 4 weeks anyways.

Dolphins traded a DL to Saints. These things do happen just not very often for TT.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I made it about three sentences through the article before I realized it was click bait speculation with no substance. Janis will learn how to do a back shoulder fade before a trade for our WRs happens. Uffda is right, this abundance of talent at WR is a product of our own wishful thinking.

I do think Nelson and Cobb would do fine anywhere, maybe not as good as with Rodgers but few WRs would. As far as the others they don't have much for stats even with Rodgers.

We've got a ton of marginal players we're going to cut anyway. Can we get someone better than Lowry? Ted might be able to swing a deal preventing us and the other team with which we are trading from having to put in waiver claims or compete on the open market for these role players.

But yeah. If you can get a starter for Abby, I'd do that too. Did you have a specific trade in mind?

The point is I don't think we have any WRs outside of Jordy and Cobb that we can trade for a Dlineman who is better or has more potential to be better than a Lowry. The Dlineman you are going to get for a marginal player you're going to cut anyway is an at best marginal player whose team was probably going to cut him (such as a Lowry, Price, or Ringo). Then that player is going to be cut or inactive anyways after 4 weeks (probably about the time they start catching onto the playbook) when Pennell comes back.

What bubble lineman from other teams do you have in mind that are worth making a move for? It's fun to talk about making deals but doing it just for the sake of moving players around doesn't make any sense. Keep in mind this guy will have to learn our playbook and make the 53. Na, I'll just run with the guys we got unless someone good pops up on waivers and try to sneak a guy like Allison or Davis onto the PS after we cut them.
