- Rodgers wasn't really throwing good passes. A lot of over throws and throws behind the WR where they had to adjust. Don't remember a single accurate pass that was 10+ yards, still a lot of short stuff. Normally it wouldn't be much of a concern because preseason but after last year it's got me a tad worried.

- Peppers doesn't look good, hopefully it's a case of the old vet not trying in preseason like Woodson used to. He's being paid a good chunk of cash this year

- Hope Perry and Datone stay healthy they have both had good offseasons. Datone is playing the edge with some violence.

- Pennell should have a good year once he gets the suspension over. OL are having a lot of trouble with him any time it's 1v1.

- Lacy and Starks didn't really break any tackles at all. The line did a really good job opening holes for them, hopefully that keeps up.

- Don't know what to think about Davante. He's got some shake when he gets the ball in his hands but not much bake, that's fine if he can be reliable catching the ball consistently. He looks a lot smoother than last year though with cleaner cuts/moves.

- Callahan was taking more chances this week. That's what I was talking about. If you are a young QB barely hanging onto a roster play like you've got nothing to lose. Tentative play from these bottom of roster guys kills me. He was pulling the trigger this week and showed off some of that arm. Great to see. Probably earned himself a place on a roster or practice squad playing like that whether it's here or elsewhere.

- Brice still showing up, bet he makes the 53

- Nether punter showed much, was hoping someone would step up

- I bet Martinez starts at ILB week 1, he plays faster every week. I don't know what to think about Barrington, at this point I consider cutting him in favor of Bradford if it comes down to it.

Forgot to add one

- Jared Cook looks sharp, he needs to carry it over to regular season obviously but that looks like a great move so far. If he finally lives up to his previous level of hype we may be ok this year even if Jordy has a bit of a decline.

Rodgers looked just like he did last year, unfortunately.

My quick thoughts:

- Rodgers played in squirrel mode, like last year and that worries me.
- Peppers has never played well in preseason so I'm not worried about that. He just doesn't care.
- Jared Cook with Rodgers is the next Gronkowski.
- Allison is slow but the guy plays with heart, I'm starting to think Janis is no longer a lock for the 6th WR spot.
- With the injury Brice might have just gotten Chris Banjo's spot in the team.
- I'm perplexed about the obsession of journalists with punting, Mashtay is a lock, Mortell is really not better.
- Our 3rd team is much much better than the other teams' 3rd string players, many cuts are not going to clear waivers.
- I'm concerned about Shields and specially Randall in the secondary.
- Some of the young players in the secondary are too good to be cut: Brice, Hawkins, Evans, those guys can play.

Shields is another who always looks bad in the offseason for whatever reason. Remember one year he lost his starting job to Jarrett Bush and went on to have one of his best years once the real games started. I'm not worried about him.

My biggest takeaway is the aura of our offense is still missing. Might return when Jordy does. When Rodgers used to be on field two years ago always felt something good was going to happen. Don't feel that anymore.

Cook looks really good mainly because we've been so terrible there recently.

Starks did nothing....again. Overpaid vet who should be cut but won't due to dead money owed due to terrible Hawk like contract.

Peppers is not worth his money. A healthy Perry is so much better. Honestly, I'd cut Julius and resign him for a lot less.

Callahan looked like more than a scrub.

Why are they playing a top rookie they're going to need with a club on his hand after obsessing about injuries in preseason. Not consistent logic.

Season over for Banjo and Elliott? Two roster spots may have opened.

Most boring pre season since Majk came along. Used to be one of my favorite times of the year.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Banjo was ST captain last night. I think he's been having a great pre-season, and at worst I'd expect him back after a potential IR situation rather than being out the whole season. Any word on his severity?

Still wondering if Gunter has a spot on this team, if Evans or Hawkins take it over, OR if we give that spot to an additional safety like Brice. OR OR OR we don't need to because Banjo starts season on IR. We'll see how things play out.

I don't think Elliott has a role on this team anymore. Either Fackrell and/or McCray can/will take his place there.

Didn't see much else to comment on that I can think of except for the fact that I believe Lacy and Cook will be difference makers this year. Also, as I've said in another thread, I'd be fine with Davante getting the boot Nelson, Cobb, Montgomery, Davis, Abby, and Allison making it while Janis starts season on IR... maybe.

Some have said that Rodgers passes were not all on target and Lacy/Starks weren't breaking tackles and some pass rushing was not as intense as it could be . All this may be true, but for those that know they will be on the 2016 roster , an unimportant preseason game does not trigger any of the adrenaline of a regular season game . On the other hand , those fervently trying make/stay on the roster either shine or overplay their positions .

All this will change soon as who will stay/go becomes apparent . The few players "on the bubble" will put the Coaches and their staffs through agony deciding who to keep/cut/or offer a position on the practice squad . As for the plays run in preseason , fundamental Vanilla plays are the order of the day and offer the easiest examination of basic skills . More complex plays may already be being practiced , but will not be seen until necessary and not until the regular season. In addition, some players like Nelson have yet to see action in any game , but should garner proper attention from opposing defenses .
The regular season opener in Jacksonville should see a more refined and sharper Green Bay Offense/Defense/Special Teams take the field . The "Vanilla" plays run in preseason will still be run, but with a swagger that dares opposing defenses to stop them. The menu of plays for the first few games will be heavy with run plays and position passes with a few sprinkles thrown in . I don't see the passing game catching fire until after the bye week or a little later . IMO, by November the 2016 Packers will be the most feared Offense in the NFL. The Packer Defense remains the mystery part of the larger puzzle. They could be just average or evolve into an elite force by playoff time . Let's hope they are better than the 2015 Packer Defense .

I love Aaron and I think he has done amazing things for the Packers. But it's time to consider Brett Hundley as our future. Maybe even immediate future.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
