I gave you the worst Packers in the past 40 years last week and now it's time for the best. Here are numbers 25 to 11 (look for the top 10 a week from today): 25] WR Antonio Freeman (1995-2001, 2003) — Talk about underrated. He wasn't the most talented receiver in the league, but fewContinue Reading››

I will have to put my list together tonight.
Who is on your list? It can be as large or as small as you want.
You can ignore the 70s and 80s or include them.
All skill positions or nothing but big ol fatties.

40 years is a long time but probably appropriate for picking the best and worst in the memory of most fans.
Even a fan of my age, I think would have a hard time with that.
Being an anti Ted Thompson fan I find it amusing that the best numbered 25 thru 11, so few are from the Thompson era.
I'm sure that those numbered 10 thru 1 will even that out so as to be politically correct and not ruffle any of the younger fan feathers.
I have to bet that #1 will be Bart Starr.
If not then the whole thing has been an exercise in futility.

So many good players over the years it is tough to come up with a list.

Top 10 (Not ranked in order.)
Aaron Rodgers (Still has a few years to go before he can be considered all-time best.)
Brett Favre (Could make you love him and hate in in the same breath.)
Reggie White (I wish he would have been in GB for more of his career. I was sorry he left to play elsewhere.)
Charles Woodson (I wish he would have been in GB for more of his career. I didn’t mind his leaving quite as much.)
Sterling Sharpe (I would have loved to have seen him play a full career.)
Lynn Dickey (I have to wonder what he would have been on the more recent teams with the more favorable passing rules.)
James Lofton (He would have shined even brighter in he played today.)
Ahman Green (Most under-rated and under-appreciated Packer.)
John Brockington (even though his best days were before 1976.)
Nick Collins (Another career injury victim.)

Others:
70-80’s
Larry Mc Carren
Mike McCoy
Willie Buchanon
Chester Marcol (My wife’s favorite has to make the list.)
Johnnie Gray
Ezra Johnson
Tim Harris
Greg Koch
Paul Coffman
John Anderson (How can you not love a LBer who kicks a FG and PAT even though his form was butt ugly.)

90’s
LeRoy Butler
Earl Dotson
Dorsey Levens
Marco Rivera
Gilbert Brown (More love than skill.)
Frank Winters
Robert Brooks
William Henderson (I wanted him in the top 10. Just couldn’t do it. I loved his work ethic.)
Adam Timmermann
Antonio Freeman

2000’s
Chad Clifton (Deserves top 10 consideration. Hard for linemen to get the accolades.)
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila ( A bit of a one trick pony but what a trick. He would fair better in the new more specialized defensive schemes.)
Mason Crosby
Clay Matthews 3
Donald Driver
Jordy Nelson
Aaron Kampman
Al Harris
Josh Sitton maybe
HaHa C-D might make the list in a few years.

Nice list wpr!
You put a lot of work into that and reading it took me for a nice stroll down memory lane.
Good to see Chester Marcol on there since he is, and has been for quite some time an official Yooper.

The other top 10 are spot on. I love that you included Lynn Dickey. Its too bad he was stuck on such poor teams.

I also love your comments on William Henderson. They echo my sentiments exactly and in a similar vein I would like to put Robert Brooks in the top 10 but just like Henderson I couldn't quite do it. On a list of top 10 favorite players he'd be on it for sure.
