When healthy, the Green Bay Packers offensive line has ranged from good to great over the last several years. Health has certainly been an issue, so depth needed to be addressed this offseason. The contracts of David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, TJ Lang, and JC Tretter are all set to expire at the end of next [...]

Let's see who makes it through the season healthy. Maybe fate will answer these questions. Tretter might want to leave to be a starter elsewhere, and some lunatic general manager will offer Bahktiari big money.

"good to great"? Seriously? Seriously?

I see that consensus so far is resigning Sitton and letting Lang walk.

I don't think they're not that far apart, skillwise. Sitton is the better pass blocker, but Lang is pretty close.

Thing is, I imagine Sitton looking for something comparable to Levitre and Iupatie, which is $8 million a year, with the constant praise he's getting, the Pro-Bowl nods et cetera. Lang, we might be able to get for something more along the lines of his current contract, which is $5 million a year. Plus Lang's a year younger.

Maybe I'm totally wrong on getting Lang on the cheap, but if the option's there, I'd rather take Lang and keep that $3 million to invest somewhere else.

It's hard to really rate our linemen because Rodgers runs around like a chicken too much. As a lineman you have to worry about the guys getting past you, but if Aaron scrambles, the chips are off the table. There's no fundamental play here.

Jake Long is still unemployed but “finally healthy”

A mere eight years ago, tackle Jake Long became the first overall pick in the draft, chosen by the Dolphins and former V.P. of player personnel Bill Parcells despite the presence of quarterback Matt Ryan in the pool of talent. Today, Long is out of the NFL.

But he’s looking to get back in, and Long insists that the injury problems that plagued him are now gone.

Due diligence, Ted.

“When I wake up and my knee doesn’t hurt, you know what I mean,” Long said. “I feel the strength back. You can see it. You can feel it. My body feels good the way I’m moving, working out and how good I feel moving on it.”

“Winning is not a sometime thing, it is an all the time thing. You don't do things right once in a while…you do them right all the time.”

As long as they check him out and don't break the bank I wouldn't mind seeing Long suit up in G&G.
BUT "a mere eight years" is a career. He may well be done.

Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest

Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
