When I was a kid we used to sneak into games at halftime, they'd open the gates. I think Infante ended that.

Back then we'd sometimes buy end zone tickets for like $17. No idea what they are now, but buying a ticket for you and two kids has become a significant investment for many. The "experience" isn't worth it for what they want to charge for good tickets.

I am assuming the real value for the preseason game is half of what they actually charge.

I have been to many dozens of NFL games, from City Stadium in Green Bay to Lambeau Field, County Stadium,Tigers Stadium in Detroit, Metropolitan Stadium in Minneapolis and Sun Devil Stadium in Arizona and
I can assure everyone that Lambeau Field is not overrated.
Although at my age I will only go to 1 Packers game a season if it's a warm weather game, it remains a great experience every time.
But these days I prefer, for the most part, to watch from the comfort of my living room.

Although having the radio broadcast in my ear really helps with that.

Ultimately, going to games is fun, but it's just not worth more than the occasional experience if you aren't local. Is it really worth the hundreds of dollars it ultimately takes to potentially fly or take a long drive in, hotels, food, etc? I think the answer is yes, but only very occasionally, and with good friends and/or family. It's not something I'd want to do frequently.

The stadium experience NFL...MLB etc is overrated and overpriced per say. I can sit in my comfy recliner and control the hot/cold in front of my 50 inch HD TV. As IM stated I can eat and drink better and cheaper and no lines at the bathroom, it's a valid choice and argument.

I have been fortunate enough to go to several games at Lambeau over the last 35 years. Maybe 3 or 4 preseason games, and 4 or 5 regular season games, and the "snow bowl" playoff win over Seattle.
The only real negative I feel Lambeau Field has is, the bleacher seats. I wish they would have put in REAL seats when they redid the stadium.
It's not as bad with warm weather games, but in cold games and everyone bundled up, you feel like you are in a sardine can. And if you didn't bring something warm to sit on, those metal seats are murder.
They could have updated that and made it MUCH more comfortable for the fans.

They were more than willing to address the issue. The problem is we are a bigger (butted) people today than in the 60s so it would not be possible to put as many fans into the same footprint.
This means some of the existing fans would have been sent to the newest construction seats and the waiting list would not have been reduced very much.

Next everyone would have had to.pay more for tickets to offset their perceived loss in revenue.

In the end they added the stadium seats to the new addition with arm rests and charged more for those seats.

STHs had the option of moving into that section. I thought it would been a fine option even if it cost more. My wife nixed it.

I certainly want to go to Lambeau to see a game for the experience, but to be honest I like watching the games here on the chat. I have to admit the ability to watch the game and interact with fans is a great experience. I used to like going to bars or having people over, but I actually think I prefer the chat more as it is quieter and we are all cheering for the same team.

The "thrill" of going to games for me has passed... I was fortunate to have attended dozens of games while going to college in Green Bay... and there after. I did break down and go to the last Favre game when he visited... but for me it was the Moss (fake moon) game that really ended it for me. I get some might have gotten upset with the move, but some of the nonsense that was uttered by racist and bigoted people, people I wouldn't have expected it from by pure looks was astounding.

Yes, even in Green Bay.

But have been to worse settings than Lambeau without a doubt... I have been to almost 20 NFL stadiums, had plans on making it to all of them someday. Just doesn't do it for me anymore, I would rather fire up the grill... chill a case of beer and lounge out in my home. I can pause the dvr to hit the head, and I can rewind and watch any detail I damn well please.

And I don't have to deal with the hassle of ushering in and out of the stadium, with people that are only focused on their own agenda, and I certainly don't have to pay 300% for a cold drink only to have someone tell me that they are done serving just when the game may be getting good.
