1. How much is zone-blocking still a part of the Packers' offensive scheme? Yes, I know we don't have the same emphasis on "small and quick", but in terms of the playbook itself, how much of blocking still emphasizes zones in the way that encourages chop/cut blocking? I think it's still a big chunk of "how the actual blocking gets done (when it gets done)."

2. Personally, I'm still unconvinced that the OL is as solidified as it needs to be. I still consider Sitton a stud, despite his down year. Lang looked better to me last year than he has ever has. Lindsley/Tretter -- I am less enthusiastic than I was last year at this time. Bulaga and Bahktiari -- IMO they are still just average. Or, to put it another way, only two of the five starting positions show OL play that is as solid as I think it should be; and as a unit, they remain far away from the "dominance" standard I think TT/MM should be striving harder toward.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I think that is more of a confidence thing and McCarthy has a lot of confidence. No question. I believe that is part of the problem. The attitude of "Meh, we've scored enough, we can slack off a bit, we got this" rather than the attitude of "Up by 20 with 3 minutes to go? Not enough, GIVE ME MORE POINTS!".

Back in the Packer's Glory Years if you had 15 point lead in the 4th quarter you were pretty safe. The game was much different. The offense has been given huge advantages over the years. There is no more bump and run, the receiver could be knocked down anytime before the QB released a pass, no 5 yard rule. They weren't protected as an unprotected receiver, so if the pass was way over his head he was "fair game" to get creamed, no head to head or leading with the helmet rule. There was no face guarding rule. The Olinemen could not use their hands at all for blocking. The Dlinemen could use a head slap. QBs had to call their own plays, no helmet mic's or hand signals. Thirty yard and plus field goals were questionable with straight on FG kickers. These are just the changes I can think of off the top of my head. So today a 15 point lead is nothing, just 2 scores not 3 with all these changes added. With all the changes, and the 2 point conversion, it might be similar to a 24 point lead with 3 to 6 minutes remaining.

All teams run both power and zone blocking, what percentage of each differs from team to team...

The rumor that teams that use more zone, also wants smaller linemen is bull... all teams want bigger, sttonger, better guys... but zone ask for athletic and in shape linemen, and normally the 330+ lbs OL aren't the in shape, athletic types. .. but if they were in shape and athletic, zone offenses would take the 350 lbs types too.

The scheme was not the problem, failing to execute the scheme properly was the problem.
