No, Jared Allen never played for the Green Bay Packers. He was apart of those crappy Vikings and Bears teams and his life hits a note with me regarding this from ProFootballTalk.



Jared had an alcohol problem and by all accounts he was able to successfully keep it in check. I can't count the number of people I know/known that could have been strong enough to do the same.

When he was with the Chiefs, I remember hoping he could get his life turned around. I knew nothing of him other than the alcohol issues and I never followed his career. It was mentioned that he was a helluva talent with caveat of his troubles.

Wish him the best of luck in his future and hopefully he can keep himself clean and out of trouble. So often it is the routine that keeps guys from getting back into trouble, and when losing that routine at retirement, they sometimes fall back into old bad habits.

Only problem I ever really had with him is that he was a Viking.

I must admit hating to play against the guy. A bit surprised he hung them up. I would consider him a borderline HoF type of guy so you would think he would perhaps stick it out a little longer to try and get that ring. Playing with a broken foot and not winning would make me want to retire too perhaps.
