I think He is trying to get an answer if it is ok by the rules to do that, as Zero was saying it isn't ok. Even if we were able to do that you can't honestly think he would clear waivers. I could see teams from our own division claiming him just to prevent him from being on the Packers.

I know I have read quite a bit about it and while that is true, I may have misunderstood it. That being said, I would put money down that this is not a possibility because if it were, the Patriots would have done it already. That's not an insult, that's a compliment to their thoroughness and understanding of loopholes.

Reserve/Injured
Except for players who are subject to the rules for injury settlements or who have been “Designated for Return” (more on that below), players who are placed on the Reserve/Injured List at any time are prohibited from playing and/or practicing for the rest of the season, including postseason, with the club that placed them on the Reserve/Injured List.

If a club subsequently waives or otherwise terminates a player on the Reserve/Injured List, the club is prohibited from re-acquiring such a player during the 2015 regular season and postseason.

- Hello?
- Bill?
- Yes, who is this?
- I'm Ted Thompson
- Ted, what can I do for you?
- I've made a mistake
- Really? well don't worry fire Tom Clemments and that's it.
- No, no, I made a mistake with Jordy Nelson, he is going to be fine for the playoffs and put him in IR.
- Oh boy, why you didn't call me first?
- I did, you were busy watching some videos.
- Ok, never mind, I know what we can do.
- I'm all ears
- Cut him, find an injury settlement, then the Jaguars will pick him from waivers I'll trade with the Jaguars a 1st round pick for Jordy and then I'll trade it to you for all your first round picks from now on.
- Do you mean ALL my first round picks?
- Yes, forever
- Ok, that's fine, anything else?
- Yes, he can't suit against us in the Superbowl
- But...
- Ted take ir or leave it, I have a meeting with the che err rules comitee in 15.
- Ok I take it
- See you in hell Teddy.
- See ya!

I believe the rules actually state a player placed on IR without the return designation is not allowed to return to play for that same team.

Jordy Nelson may be healing ahead of schedule, which is great, but scheming and plotting to see him return at all this season is just selfish and uncaring. If they did screw him over on his contract, it would foster an environment that could badly effect the rest of the team. I hope that kind of thinking never finds it's way into the Packers organization, after all they are not the Bears, Lions or Vikings. Look at how that Favre drama played out and the bad feelings that some still hold. [nono]

I'd be worried that if we pulled all that Guatemalan stuff we would end up with a bad hair day and it would mess everything up.

As far as Barfan's attempt at circumventing the rules I'd be very surprised if there were a way to do it but I'm sure if it could be done Belichick would have done it.

Although come to think of it if there was a legal way to circumvent the rules it wouldn't be cheating so maybe Belichick wouldn't have thought of it.

Last year we IR'd Joe Thomas on 8-26-14, did an injury settlement and released him and then on 11-3-14 we resigned him.

I guess there's a distinction between a reserve/injured list and the waived-injured list.

So if that Z2C's Vikings link and several others are correct, then it's now up to Dr. McKenzie's facial reconstruction plan, if Jordy's gonna be in SB!

Good news: if Jordy had a shot to play in playoffs, but for the IR rules, he should be 100% for OTAs.

PS: Good Point Buck, the thread should have said cut/resign Jordy
