I'll keep doing this, it's giving us luck...

The glass half full:

* Nick Perry: I've criticized him, we've all criticized him and we have rated him from not worth a 1st round to complete bust. However he is playing better and had a great game against the 9ers.
* The DL: Again!. Unexpectedly we have one of the best DLs in the NFL? They are collapsing the pocket in almost every single play and it seems impossible to run against them.
* CMIII: Everywhere, making plays, pushing, covering, sacking, he is a major force.
* HHCD: He is fast and he has the energy and desire to contribute to every play. He wasn't flashy against SF but
he was at the play in every snap.

The glass half empty:

* SF: again our opponent was a wreck, they played a very bad game and they are a very bad team. I think our secondary hasn't been tested yet by a very good QB.
* James Campen: Barclay is decent but he is not perfect, it's ridiculous to leave him alone without any help in so many plays, if you get Rodgers injured it's all over. It wasn't a good game for the OL, penalties and missed blocks.
* Hyde: He is a great ST player but when he is defending he is just a guy. So far he is been ok(ish) covering the 3rd or 4th option but it's clear that defending the pass is not his forte.

The Rams are a strange team, they have a good defense and they have very good STs, they have some weapons in offense. For some reason they can never make all the pieces work together. I'd be cautious about playing against the in Saint Louis but at Green Bay I think it's a game we can win by a good margin. (famous last words)

Rodgers P-rating under 100, I’m betting on a -73.2 grade from PFF

Barclay, should get a -73.2, let down knowing he had an easier opponent and played BY FAR his worst game. But, he’s still ascending...LOL

At 8:28 2Q Colin SackorPick [some angry Niner fans out there] ran zone read and handed off and faked that he still had ball and CM3 made the worst play of his career as he pulled up and did not slice Kapernick in half. He got a talkin’ to and/or realized what he did after the play and at 3Q 7:10 Kapernick did it again and CM3 whacked the snot out of him; Kapernick was much more subdued after that hit.

Raji another good game [Tex, I know you were watching BJ in the second half today, 😂 ].

Datone made a great tackle on Kapernik to stop a 1st and had at least 1 pressure.

Rollins on play where CM3 failed to hit Kapernick, flew up and made the tackle, this kid is going to be a star: he’s Troy Polomolu.

Twice Neal was out of position on a Kapernik 9 yard run right (1Q 2:33) and for 17 at (9:24 2Q) Neal and Daniels allowed to big of a hole for a Kapernick 12 yard run (1Q 9:02).

Perry, unbelievable game. 2 more sacks, but WAAAAAAAAAY more important when he played ROLB, SF got nothing running in his direction. He held the edge and stayed at home like a real pro. And he is the reason why Kapernick did not run rough shod over us all day [CM3 helped too]. Though he could have gotten more penetration on that “pass” to Patton for 40, I’m sure that was an unscouted look, a nice call by SF. And Perry got no stats for his run support, so if you watch the stats instead of the game, he sucked.

Thomas on his first snap rushed from ROLB [He did nothing]. In 2nd Q he covered his guy in zone and when throw went to Celek under he came downhill and caused a fumble; this kid can hit and he can tackle. If you want to see why JT is in the Dime check out his zone coverage at 4Q 13:51.

Palmer is getting more comfy loved his reaction, movement in traffic and tackle at 14:57 3Q [Fill his hole, pushed G Boone back 1 yard behind LOS, flowed down line, avoided all other traffic and made the tackle].

NateJoe Palmas is a better player than Barrington and stud STers!

Hayward another good game; he has been at least as good as Tramon and ¼ season done and no injuries. On that short pass behind line that Boldin took for 1st at end of 1Q might have been stopped by Tramon. Hayward wasn’t physical enough, the TE pushed him out of the play.

Randall gave up a couple of shorter completions for first downs to Smith and Patton and gave up a long one to Smith w/ B- coverage in Smith’s two and maybe a C- on Patton. It is unbelievable w/ GB up by 2 TDs and about 7 minutes left a rookie 1 on 1 w/ Smith w/ no safety help; Whitt has great confidence in Damarious and the D stayed aggressive. Kapernick tried to work on Randall on that drive that ended on 4th at 4Q 4:00 and outside of the long pass Randall blanketed his guy! Randall also might be as good as Tramon right now.

Elliot had one nice sack; but got sucked in on 2 or 3 Kapernick runs; Jayrone needs a little more discipline.

Guion played a lot better than I thought he would...damn scary.

Was shocked that Abby didn’t get a snap. They speak of Monty’s doing well learning the system, but we cant be sure how much BS is mixed in, until this happens! Monty dropped a TD and should have had that low 1st down pass and did a nice job as a RB and always blocking. This guy will be special perhaps as soon as by the end of year.

R. Rodgers played a great game, good blocking and again blasted a LBer [Willhoite] out of a hole, several tough catches and AR missed a long one to him.

Clock management: wasted too many TOs AGAIN. At end of 2nd half the 4th and 1 at 21 was puzzling. You’d think w/ :35 and coming off SF TO, GB would have called 2 plays. But after 1st down these guys are walking around like a Sunday stroll at the freakin’ zoo instead of hustling back to LOS to run a play. If you’re not going to hustle why not just kick the FG?

On Special Teams: Mastay had 2 short punts and Crosby missed 1 FG; but their directional punting and Kicking was pretty good. The coverage units really good. Loved that one where 2 SF dudes were pushed into their punt returner [Banjo and Rollins almost got us an easy one]! Our special teams looked like the Washington Generals on one punt at 12:30 2Q: first Hyde had a ton of room to run upfield and he danced instead and we committed 2 penalties.

Barfarn's analysis made me think of how so many of the players we've lambasted (and probably justifiably so) are looking productive - Perry, DJones, Raji...they've all been playing well. It almost seems too good to be true. Is this a function of weaker competition? Yesterday, possibly, but in general I'm not so sure. Watching the qb pressure, the speed, the tackling of this team (for the most part) yesterday made me do multiple double takes.

Short yardage offense, Maybe it was just McCarthy, but now with Tom Clements calling plays we are actually running the ball on short yardage instead of passing. I think it was 5 times against SF, once on 3-1 Lacy was stopped, and they followed on 4-1 and converted, and converted on 3 more short yardage including the TD to Kuhn.

Last few years almost every time we faced 3rd or 4th and 1 we ended up passing.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
