Thumbs down: It’s important to keep in mind that this was still only a practice, even though it was in front of a crowd of 67,191 and inside hallowed Lambeau Field. So dropped passes in this practice were no more consequential or detrimental than they’d be on Ray Nitschke Field. Or, are they? Both WR Jeff Janis, who made the team as a seventh-round pick last year but still must earn a spot this season, and TE Justin Perillo, who was promoted from the practice squad as a rookie last year but is battling for the No. 3 tight end job, each dropped passes on wide-open plays during 11-on-11 periods.

Play of the day: It wasn’t so much a single play – although undrafted rookie free agent OLB James Vaughters did have a nice win against Bulaga – as it was the most noticeable thing of the night: The Packers defense generated some solid pressure not only on QB Aaron Rodgers, whom Vaughters flushed out of the pocket, but all of the quarterbacks. For a unit that was down to four healthy outside linebackers because of injuries, that was a positive step.
