Or maybe it's like saying he's smarter than any OC, and one sign of that smartness is his ability to use "tweeners" and to cross-train. Capers has always been a smoke and mirrors kind of guy, which is exactly what the Packers need, not having dominant personnel on defense. This year, however, we are getting pretty close to "dominant personnel". Hyde is like a sixth man on a basketball team. He can be plugged in several places, and combining that with the multiple Capers schemes, Hyde can replace just about anybody - all that and very true about the excellent punt returning.

I'm confused on why the question is being asked...what to do with Hyde. ... easy play him to his strengthes as the best under sized (small) coverage LB in the entire NFL. Hyde doesn't have the size but he's more physical than some of the (soft) coverage LBers and can cover short areas like a CB. Yes he can also play back-up DB in his spare time or if the Packers need him there due to injuries but really those are secondary to his skills inside the box as a nickel and dime coverage DB/LB. And yes I kind of skill want to see Hyde and Richardson get a shot at coverage LB role in certain packages.

Also I felt like the article was suggesting that the nickle/dime roles were CB only roles, but that's not the case. Capers has gone with 3 Safety nickle packages while with the Texans and I think the Jags too. Rob Ryan with the Saints has gone with 3 safety nickle packages as well. So nickle can be either...

I think some get confused with the term nickel defense. While you mostly see 3 CBs, it can be any combination of 5 DBs. In the modern pass-first NFL, you just can't have enough good DBs.
