Goodson, the athletically talented ex-basketball player, took some serious lumps in his first professional season but has taken strides into year two. Gunter, the 6’1″, 202 pound Miami product that was projected by NFL.com as a fourth or fifth round selection, is earning rave reviews out of the early offseason activities and seems to hide his lack of straight-line speed well. To keep both players, Ted Thompson and the Packers will need to look at which other positions could be limited.

Gonna be a tight year for roster spots. 3 QBs, 6 WRs, 2 FBs?

Is Goodson eligible for PS? I doubt anyone would grab him unless he really shows alot in TC.

Thank god for all that "versatility," especially among the DBs.

First off, carrying six corners would surely limit the potential safeties on the roster to four. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Morgan Burnett and Sean Richardson are all locked in, while Micah Hyde will be listed as one of the four “safeties” despite Dom Capers’ penchant for moving him around the defense.

Goodson would be eligible for 1 of the 2 veteran spots that were added last year to PS.

6 CB's would work if The Packers only carry 4 S's.
HHCD, Burnette, and Heyward are the 3 locks at S, then there is Richardson.
Pretty solid S lineup, don't see a problem with 6 CB's.

The real battle is going to be for those last 2 or 3 spots between rb, wr, and possibly 3rd qb.

Can roster support six cornerbacks?

Um, when is the last time the Packers haven't supported six cornerbacks?

I'm confused on how this is eve being questioned, as seems like in recent years the Packers have always kept at least 6 CBs... assuming you count Woodson as a CB option in 2012 when he was asked to play SS some.

CBs is one of those positions you don't go into a season light on numbers with unless the ones you have REALLY REALLY suck... and assuming the Packers 5th and 6th healthy CB options don't really really suck, the Packers will keep at least 6 CB options, one of which might be Hyde or they might get to 6 even without counting Hyde.

Weather you count Hyde as a CB or a S is the only question I see here, and I think that depends more on depth of the two positions as I could see the Packers putting him in either DB room.

5 WRs
8 OL

9 LBers
9 DB
1 K
1 P
1 LS

That's 48 with 5 spots being left and most likely DB will be added as they have normally gone with 10 (6 of which can play CB if need be).

We undoubtedly will keep less TEs - 3 max this year; I hope - although I kinda doubt - that we go with less D Linemen; I think we only keep 2 O Linemen beyond the 5 starters; Probably the rookie FB goes on the practice squad, assuming Kuhn isn't cut.

With those things, we should be able to keep 6 WRs, 3 QBs, a generous number of LBs, and probably 6 Corners and 4 or 5 Safeties - Shields, Hayward, Randall, Rollins, Goodson, and Gunter plus Burnett, Clinton-Dix, Hyde, Banjo, and Richardson.

a K, P, and LS makes 3 + 3 QBs + 1 FB + 2 RBs + 6 WRs + 3 TEs + 7 O Linemen + those 11 DBs + 7 D Linemen + 9 LBs ......... that adds up to just 52, so add 1 more wherever - the point being, YES we certainly can keep 6 Corners along with 5 Safeties.

Since you're hoping we keep less DL, and then project 7 DL, I'm guessing the rosters positions are your prediction and not your want...

For that roster project my big complained would be only 2 RBs? ... RBs sometimes get hurt in bunches like I think when both Lacy and Starks both got injured and they had to use Franklin against the Bengals. SO I'm expecting at the very least 3 RBs.

2 QBs
1 FB
Another 1 QB or FB
3 RBs
6 WRs
3 TEs
8 OL

6 DL
9 LBers
6 CB
4 S
1 more defensive spot that most likely go to a LBer or Banjo for ST reasons (if there is REALL good depth at DL could also go there).

1 K
1 P
1 LS

dfosterf (4-May) : FYI civilian companies swipe the S2 designation from the military. S2 is the intelligence branch up to brigade level. G2 is division level.
dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?

Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
