Well my eyes saw him shoot some gaps and get penetrations, but they also saw Raji handled quite effectively with one on one blocking. He's a long way from becoming a dominant player.

The Raji watch is going well. He's currently ranked 6th at his position of players with 25% of snaps played and has a +5.0 rating.

I think something folks need to realize is that no player is going to win every snap.

As perhaps Raji's biggest detractor, I will give him guarded praise for his performance last night. He came out early in the game with energy and actually did exhibit something resembling dominance. It didn't last for the whole game; Into the second quarter and more so in the third quarter, he and the rest of the D Line were getting pushed around some, although not quite as bad as in the past. Then at crunch time, they snapped out of it and showed some toughness again, although I don't recall seeing much from Raji late in the game. It was Daniels dominance and to a lesser extent, Pennell, and occasionally Datone Jones, at least as much as Raji, but I will say, he wasn't too bad.

I have some guarded optimism because the Seahawks have a line that is a work in progress, esp. after giving away their C for a TE who won't block, so I'm not quite sure how to interpret the results of last night.

With that said, the DL rotation is encouraging, and it seems there are some glimmers of hope that they could be OK. Jones put down the doobie and showed some hustle, Raji blew through the line on a few occasions, Daniels was Daniels, and even Pennell seemed to be improving. They were showing glimpses of what we thought they could/should be.

Raji and the Interior Dline played well against Sea and Lynch. They were playing on Seattle's side of the ball most of the game. There was nowhere for Lynch to run most of the time except to try and bounce. I don't recall many yards gained between the tackles by seattle.

I think the defense will have some peaks and valleys but I feel strongly that this defense will end up being at least somewhere in the top 15 when all is said and done in the regular season.

Raji was arguably the most impressive defensive player for the Packers last night. He was consistently pushing around his guy blowing up run plays. What really impressed me was he helped shut down a couple outside runs also.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
