Sounds like you're thinking the "fundamentals" of the O should change.

These guys developing for a year is not wasting them; a tiny bit of growth comes on Sundays; 95+% comes M-Sat on practice field an meeting rooms; and the WR group going bowling at night and discussing their jobs.

AR sat for 3 years; Wilson, Kapernick, Newton, RG3, etc played well in yr 1. It is not because AR was dumber than these guys; the OCs dummied down the playbook so they could contribute. IMHO, this delays and probably will harm overall development.

MM could have dumbed down the playbook to get Janis on the field last year and assure Abby sees the field this year. Like other teams did for their 1st rnd WRs. One day they may need to do that, if they ever get caught w/ a bunch of young WRs.

Because the key to winning is having 1st contract studs for 3 or 4 years; maybe the playbooks should be dumbed down so that all the rookies can play in year one if physically able. Maybe that's why Seattle had a glut of great young players from 2010-2012 drafts. But last year Wilson tailed off; I think Lynch's extortion demand worked because Seattle worries that w/o Lynch Wilson is only a rich man's Taveris Jackson and that is why they haven't paid him 20+M per.

GB's 2014 O was #1 in scoring; but when you adjust for the D's rushing problems and having trouble getting off the field, as well as the O having huge leads and taking the foot off the gas; our O is by far #1. I dont think they should change the way the O is run!

I read some quotes of his back when he was drafted...I don't recall specifics just that I left with thinking Janis was the extremely cocky type. I guess he reminded me of Bill Schroeder in his younger days.

If you think the 'new' wide receiver should always start, you're missing the concept of draft and develop. You have to let the previous year rookie class develop each season. Do you really think all these top round picks are busts? No. They fail because they were thrown into the mix far too soon with little to no preparation. This results in a lack of confidence and what has Aaron Rodgers and others said about football being mostly about? Confidence.

Stop trying to rush these kids and let the staff who sees them daily do their job.

I've attended practices...seen live games and seen tons of them on TV. Nobody looked like Janis in his very short window that I can recall.

In any case it should be an extremely interesting competition in camp between the WRs. Janis could certainly have a big year, he definitely has the ability. Then it should be very interesting on this forum. We'll have one faction saying "I told you he should have been playing last year" and another saying " I told you draft and develop works".😁

I'm all aboard the hype train for Janis. How many other fans of other teams can sit here and say they are excited about their 4th, possibly 5th string WR?

After doing some more reading on Janis, there are still some concerns. He apparently has pretty small hands for a receiver. He also has a tendency to use his body, opposed to his hands, to catch the ball.

It's great that he's big and fast, but that's useless if he can't consistently catch the ball. I won't be the only one here pissed if he drops 5 balls in the first 3 games.

Mike said in an article the other day he has a small catch radius. He has to be able to go get the ball, I think catching with his hands is a big part of that.
