Why is it some people seem to think evil and wealth go hand in hand?

"No one can achieve their greatest potential unless they have plenty of money, for to develop our gifts and talents, we must use many things and go many places, and unless we have money, we can't.
A desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller, and more abundant life, and that desire is praiseworthy.
No one can be really happy or satisfied unless their body is living fully in every way, and the same is true of their mind and their soul, as well.
It's perfectly right that you should give your best attention to the science of getting rich because it's fundamental to all studies, and the highest service you can render to God and humanity is to make the most of yourself."

Wealth != Evil
Evil = Evil

I think first we need to define wealth to take this subject forward. There is a real big difference between 5,6,7, and 8 figure income - and how a person gets to those levels of earning, what that person actually does, and how he treats the people that work with or for him.

What our billionaires are doing in this country is evil.

LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
There are plenty of people that arn't "rich", but still are so much in love with money, that they do plenty of evil things.
I bet there are a lot of rich people that do good works, but don't go around "crowing" about it, thus, they don't get the accolades.
They do it in secret, which is how true good works should be done.

And Troy, you may not have said "evil rich conservatives", but all the charges you have thrown out there have been directed towards conservatives. So I guess I just figured you only think conservatives are capable of being "evil".
I know there are evil people of all shapes, colors, and sizes. By what you have posted in the past, I just wasn't sure if you knew that.
I'm sorry if I made a conclusion that was wrong. I mean it, too. Not being sarcastic.

Having money != Serving 2 Masters

Having money is really not even relevant to the discussion, it is what the people did to get it, or are doing with it. It is not the fact that they have it.

It seems like this thread has strayed a little bit from the title at least. Jesus may love everyone in the "Love Thine Enemies" sense, but my picture of HIM is not the gentle "sit-Him-on-the-shelf-and-forget-Him" kind of Savior some - especially some who are generally detractors of the Bible and Christianity, the Belief - would like to portray Him as.

He came into the world dominated by the Roman Empire in a country ruled by a corrupt puppet king who knew enough about prophecy to try to nip Him in the bud. He conversed with and befriended the Pharisee elites and Roman officers in addition to common people. He was attacked and crucified by people who also read Bible prophecies and had false expectations of Him the first time around. A LOT of people set themselves up to be His enemies, even though the first time around, He didn't treat them that way.

The future, though, according to Biblical prophecy, which I absolutely believe, will be different. He will return in Power and Glory and vanquish His enemies - I suppose that doesn't preclude loving them at the same time as killing a bunch of them who may "need killing", as we say in Texas.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
