There's all sorts of blame going around - justified mostly for several players, the head coach, maybe other coaches, etc. I alluded to this in the other thread, but nobody picked up on it. I don't know, am I the only one who thinks that TED THOMPSON has been sadly delinquent in building a team around Aaron Rodgers?
Our O Line ain't what it should be - the reason there aren't more sacks is quick passing and Rodgers mobility, even on a bad leg. Literally every time he drops back, there are pass rushers in his face, and usually that's without blitzing. We can't push it in from inside the 1 yard line repeatedly? The run game has picked up some - mainly because teams are expecting us to pass, but we can't just line up and go toe to toe with really even weaker defenses.
Our defense survives because of Capers cunning and scheming, but there too, we are not on an equal footing personnel-wise. And later in games, when the schemes get figured out, things go bad in a hurry - witness Wilson's passing at the end compared to the beginning, not to mention inability to stop the run as we did early.
Even our strengths, wide receiver and running back, how much of their quality is because of Aaron Rodgers getting away from the rush and throwing to them or RBs running free because of the threat of our passing game?
I don't have any positive solution for this situation. Ted has a reputation as a good GM just as McCarthy has a reputation as a good coach - deserved in the sense that we have had consistently winning records. Neither of them is going away as long as Aaron Rodgers is in his prime. the problem is, they just are NOT MAXIMIZING THINGS. This sad and disgusting championship game really illustrated that. And I don't see things changing for the better.
