For trade value, here is a non-realistic but simple way to look at it:
1. He "cost" a 1rst round pick
2. Not all 1rst round picks pan out to be starters
3. Not all 1rst round picks pan out to be "need to know where he is" type playmakers
So again, non-realistic but based on value a 1rst round pick based on #1, and a 3rd or 4th rounder based on a combination of #2 and #3. I'm guessing that this is way more than any team would be willing to trade based on his injury history, production this year, and salary.
I don't think it would be smart for the Packers to trade him even if someone did offer the above. Why intentionally weaken or change part of the defense that seems to be working well as a unit? Injury will do that for you enough as it is. Also keep in mind that his role is different this year, which is bound to affect his statline.
I am confused as to the outside contain responsibilities and what they actually are. It does seem like teams are focusing on read option plays keying off of how Clay is reacting to the play.
