so we got 1 rotational guy... and 2 oft-injured reserve defenders.

I like the fact that we did not get sucked into the waiting game on a player, again. He's been injured way too much, already, and wasn't very impressive when he was healthy.

Thankfully, we get something...turning a 2nd rounder into a later rounder (6th or 7th) is another failed high pick on defense. It's really getting old.

Perhaps, they'll move on from Datone next year if he doesn't show something this season. I like the idea of moving on from these guys when they seem to have little to offer.

Moving on from Worthy does fly in the face of our "draft and develop" philosophy...it's crap. A tired worn out wrong phrase peddled to quell the rage from fans who are upset about the lack of aggressiveness in FA.

What are the odds Worthy thrives under Belichick? You would hope if a draft and develop team moved on that quickly that should mean he has no shot at ever being a player.

Over Aggressiveness in free agency results in the redskins. I just do not get the Ted Thompson hate. If anybody on this forum can give me a better GM that we can obtain right now (with stats to back it up) give it to me please!

On the surface I'm not happy about this at all. I just have this feeling we'll get burned while he thrives elsewhere as a late bloomer. I was really looking forward to him getting healthy.

With that said, we can't know the motivation behind the move...the possible rationale has all been mentioned in this thread. I just hope this doesn't burn us.

You can't slam Ted Thompson for the picks that don't work out while giving him no credit for the ones that do (Rodgers and countless others) in the same breath, though I'm sure you will try.

Here's a question to get to the heart of this issue on Ted Thompson drafting Rodgers being such a brilliant move by him. What guy in the GM job in Green Bay wouldn't have done the same? A guy who easily could've gone 1st overall falls to your spot at 24 and your HOF QB is whining for what seemed like the millionth season in a row about retiring... Wow, that was a really tough call, there. Yes, I give him credit because he made the pick...let's not get crazy about what really happened there.

Hind-sight is 20-20, Ted Thompson made the pick without the benefit of hindsight. Had Rodgers not worked out you would be telling everyone how obvious the red flags were that a potential #1 pick fell to #24.

Again, you have to give Ted Thompson full credit for the pick, if you're going to give him full blame for the bad picks, otherwise you show hypocrisy and confirmation bias.
