Colt Lyerla will be out for weeks, dropping the competition for Packers tight end from seven to six participants.

Probly wait to see what happens, then IR him.

It sets up good bad and good for us. Great to be able to IR him but gives him a ton of free time where he can find himself in trouble away feeling not connected to the team.

If he can wade through almost a full year away from the guys that would be some solid evidence he's turning a personal corner.

Still, we don't know how high they were on Colt... he may make the team because of the less than inspiring competition.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

If there's a rash of injuries or shit suckage at the TE position, they could very well keep a spot for Lyerla. But if these guys show a little something (and I'm optimistic,) they might just shut him down for a year and get him in the program and up to speed for next year. There's alot of variables to be worked out yet.

For all we know this run on ACLs could hit the TE position.

There is that one "IR Designated to Return" option as well. Dunno if they'd wanna use it this early, on a guy who's unproven, unless the TE position was decimated, though.

At this point I'd be surprised to see him make the team even if he wasn't injured. It doesn't even sound like he's been the best UDFA TE so far.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would think he could use team facilities and meet with staff, medical etc but I'm not sure about him practicing. I remember Tretter practicing with the team but I don't think they ever activated him. There's a window for this isn't there?

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
