Let's not look at the facts and just look at what Brett said. Yes, that is how we shall get a clear understanding of all this!!

"Trippster" wrote:

The Facts? And how do we get the facts? Talk to the two parties involved? Well, I am referring to one of the parties involved. Most is he said/she said. In court, usually the issue goes to the most credible witness.

I was simply referring to Brett's point of view and what was his experience of the situation.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

Why is Favre's point of view the correct one? Not saying it isn't. I really don't know.

What I gathered from everything is Favre wanted to voice his opinion in player moves and Thompson was willing to listen but not necessary do. That made Favre mad. I also saw Favre a guy who is very friendly towards the media. Likes them and gets a long with them and will tell them anything. Thompson vice versa. Asked about Randy Moss, Thompson will give everyone a lot of bs. Favre obviously didn't like that.

Lets put it this way. Id probably tell Thompson a secret before Favre.

In the end I kind of feel that Thompson made the mistake in misleading Favre, but Favre made the mistake in wanting to be players/gm at the same time or overstepping his boundaries.

Mike McCarthy is in the middle of this. His loyalties will be to his boss and from his perspective, thats really a no brainier. At the same time, McCarthy and Thompson really had and have a very tight relationship. Its why McCarthy was hired and I believe they both receive the same length on extensions. Something tells me he had his fair say in this too.

We will never know the truth about what happened.
Favre has his view, Ted Thompson his view.
Both are partly right, both partly wrong.
In the end, what does it matter?
It's over and done, no going back. It can't be "fixed".
I hope neither side ever puts a book out about it, as it will NEVER help the situation. Plus once again, it would be one sided, with the truth hanging out there in limbo somewhere.

I truly Believe M.M. did not think he was coach-able. I also Believe T.T. wanted to move on.

As far as what he can not get over.... Well that is clear as a bottle of Aquafina.

Brett can not get over himself.

But that is what makes some people great, and there is no doubt Brett is one of the greatest of all time. There is nothing wrong with that if you are on the PGA, but if you are the QB of an NFL team that has a team goal, a plan and a coaching staff.... I am not so sure.

I personally think that is the reason he only has one Superbowl ring.

Great thread Zero. I agree Mike wanted to move on and so did Ted.

BUT.... THEY WERE WILLING TO TAKE HIM BACK.

He did not really want to come back to this team.

He could not get over... HIMSELF.

He has one Super Bowl ring because the defense couldn't stop Terrell Davis.

I was told that Brett could not get past the fact that, in Brett's opinion, Ted continually didn't keep his word and lied about events to the media. Therefore, Brett could not trust him. Remember Brett saying that some of the things Ted (and Mike) said during the whole thing were simply not true?

Personalize it. Could you continue to work for someone whom you felt continually lied to you and your coworkers and customers about you?

"Trippster" wrote:

Ted should have said..

Brett thanks for your input we will look into it but cant promise anything

If one of those 2 things happens,. we arent here today I bet

but we end up with these things.

Brett Favre didnt like the guard situation and told this to Ted Thompson.

but Ted Thompson didnt listen to him so he took it as a slap

But he let it slide like 90% of us would..

Then it happens a 2nd time? Again he said nothing to Ted Thompson I bet lot of us would have said something.

Then a 3rd time and still said nothing?

Then he is ticked off about his locker being shipped and said okay Ted GREAT

Well god damn, if all those things bothered him then he should have said something..at the start..

Brett is a grown man and should have said something and not let it stew in his gut

But AGAIN ( b4 anyone blasts me)

TED could have and SHOULD have said something as well...

"longtimefan" wrote:

That's just it. It was improperly set expectations.

I don't think Brett is mad they didn't actually do any of the things he asked. He has said that a few times.

It was that Ted told him he WOULD talke to Mooch and stuff like that.

Brett merely suggested some ways to improve the team. That is not uncommmon with a Veteran Superstar. Jordan did it, Kobe did it. And even the Cavs have sought out JAmes' opinion before making some moves.

I believe Brett to be honest. I think he believes that Ted was not honest with him. That is hard to overcome. I don't believe it was that Ted didn't actually do what Brett wanted.

"Trippster" wrote:

no he wasnt mad they didnt do it, mad Ted "lied"

Again I think Ted should have said I will look into but can not make any promises..And ALL THIS probably would not be happening...

Trip.... did you know that Mooch had told Ted he wasn't interested in coaching BEFORE Brett asked Ted to call Mooch?

Mooch brought that point up during a NFL Network show..

"longtimefan" wrote:

Then that even makes it a bigger issue. Why didn't Ted simply respond, "Brett, I already talked with Mooch. He's not interested."

I can't find any solid numbers for a long span. Almost everything is on a quarterly basis or shorter. Favre consistently is a top seller though.

Well, thanks for looking. Yeah, I knew he's a consistent best seller from just looking around. You see Favre jerseys everywhere.

+1 Totally agree.

I'm sure having a boss like ted could be infuriating but, bottom line, he IS the boss and (sorry zero) had sherman not coddled him for those years he may have been prepared for someone like Thompson.

I also refuse to believe that Holmgren and Wolf wanted or needed Brett's input on personnel or any other management decisions.

i would make comments about raiderpride but my mom said if you don't have anything nice to say about someone then don't say anything at all. I'm just wondering if raider is actually cal under another name and is all up tt's and rodgers butts lol. There is no doubt this team would be better behind center and with that all the blame goes on Ted Thompson and mm
