Why do the Packers open camp later than alot of other teams?
The Bills opened on July 19, a full week ahead of the Pack.

I think there is some rule in the CBA, that only lets teams open camp so many days or weeks before their first preseason game... and the Bills and Giants are playing in the Hall of Frame game (the first preseason game of the year) so they get to open early (which is the advantage playing in the Hall of Frame preseason game) and both have a new coordinator so both might want more time for their team to learn the system.
Where Packers first preseason game is August 9th and 25 teams have their first preseason game before the 9th. (Bills second preseason game is August 8th).
This is a pure guess, but I think one reason the Packers have started late most years is in part due with letting players recover from the family night scrimmage... of course it'll no longer be a scrimmage as the start of this year so maybe when their contract with whoever the first preseason week team is then the Packers with schedule an earlier preseason game.
