I would rather have had Matthews or Latimer even Moncrief, but not Cooks.

There is caution on TT's record of 2nd round WR's... a lot of the guys who were there when those guys were drafted are gone. Do we know Ted Thompson is the WR genius, or was it one of the many who departed...Schneider, Dorsey, McKenzie or one of the scouts? Ted Thompson gets the credit but who did the work? Yes, Ted Thompson has to sign off on any pick but I'd be curious to know who is the real brains behind all that credit given to Ted Thompson for his 2nd round success?

In 6 of his 14 games Davante didn't break 100 yards in that offense. He put up multi 200 yard games vs. substandard competition. A lot of his catches were screens, like Cooks.

I'll bet you right now, barring injury for either player, that Matthews puts up better numbers than Adams. Not only better numbers but significantly better numbers.

Man, I hope you're right... I just see a man who'll be lucky to give us James Jones production.

I'll go one step further...Abbrederis will have a better Packers career...not first season, but career in Green Bay.

I'm wrong? Huh? The opposite of what I'm saying? No, it's exactly what I'm saying. He had 10 catches for 53 yards in those two tomato can games and I don't care if he was pulled or not it ain't a 100 yard game. Why didn't they pull him vs. Idaho? Fresno St. won that one 61-14. What about New Mexico? Fresno St. won that one 69-28.

So, because he was pulled he had OVER 100 yards in those games? With that logic, I can see why you think this guy is going to be better than Sterling Sharpe.

Oh, sure... Your Latimer can get his only multi TD game, 3TDs against hapless Illinois.

Who the fuck cares if Adams didn't have 100 yd games every time he touched the field? Neither did Latimer. I don't care. Ted had the choice between both players and he took Adams. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. You obviously have a problem with it. I don't see why, because he couldn't touch Adams' production. But, that's fine. You wanted to spar... Over this. I am done.

My point? Look at the numbers he put up and who he put them up against. There is no he didn't have a great QB excuse like Latimer has, or Moncrief has or Marqise Lee has... He had a top notch college QB throwing to him vs. tomato cans and he put up big numbers just as Isaiah Burse did who put up 99 receptions which is better than Watkins, Evans, Lee etc... I take that back, if you count bowl game Watkins had 2 more receptions than Burse. The inflated numbers don't mean diddly as to how he'll be in the NFL. He could be one of the biggest busts at WR in Packers history. You have him better than Sterling Sharpe based on the mirage of numbers he put up. All NFL teams knew how many catches yards and TD's he had and 8 WR's were picked before he was. Why? All 8 teams are stupid? No... All 8 teams knew this guy wasn't Sterling Sharpe. Heck, the Packers know it, too. If they thought he was Sterling Sharpe they would've taken him at 21 in Round 1, not Round 2.

Enthusiasm is fine... but when you start saying some 2nd round draft pick is going to be better than Sterling Sharpe that's just ... I don't even know how to put it.

As for Latimer... terrible QB play. Put him out in Fresno with David Carr and that offense and I'll bet you he would've outdone Adams numbers.

I was never not over it...I just wanted to debate you as to why you felt he was going to be better than Sterling and hear your reasoning as that's the boldest of the bold.

It's almost like saying Pack will be 16-0 next season based on this draft. It might be even stronger.

FYI it is all good, and I knew what I was doing when I said that. Some don't like statements like that. But I believe this kid is going to be special.

And really, my very first reference was just that I thought Adams looked like Sharpe. Just that he looked like him....

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals

packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: โ€œHighly unlikelyโ€ Jordan Love plays more this preseason

Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 ๐Ÿ˜”
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
