Report: Packers working on extension for Mike McCarthy

The Green Bay Packers reportedly began working on a contract extension for coach Mike McCarthy. How could the uncertainty of general manager Ted Thompson's future play into the coach's extension?

NFL.com wrote:

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said earlier this offseason that he feels like he's "at halftime' in his tenure with the team eight years after being named head coach. A 16-year run as a head coach with the same NFL team isn't something you see all that often and McCarthy's got a long way to go,...
