I don't know how they can say they definitely aren't going to be smaller on the DL unless they can find 3 guys bigger than Raji, Pickett, and Jolly.

REPORT: PACKERS WILL ALLOW B.J. RAJI, RYAN PICKETT WALK

The Green Bay Packers will let defensive linemen B.J. Raji and Ryan Pickett hit the free agency market according to NFL Network.

Raji and Pickett started every game for the Packers in 2013 but the team is reportedly interested in getting smaller and more athletic at defensive tackle and end in their 3-4 scheme. (USA TODAY Sports)

And something a little more obvious:

Earlier this month, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Packers intend to remake the position in defensive coordinator Dom Capers’ image with lighter, more athletic players with four defensive linemen (B.J. Raji, Ryan Pickett, C.J. Wilson and Johnny Jolly) headed for unrestricted free agency. That Sutton measured at just 6 feet tall and is 300 pounds makes him similar to current lineman Mike Daniels (6-feet, 300).

Packers coach Mike McCarthy, speaking at the podium to reporters inside the Lucas Oil Stadium club area Friday, disputed Rapoport’s report, calling it “not accurate.”

“I’ve never been part of a conversation that you want your D-linemen to be smaller,” McCarthy said.

:-k 🤔 🤔

Ted has the history of letting Packers UFA's to test the waters and see how much interest they get, then he seems to offer contracts to the guys he wants to keep.

I still believe with the Jolly injury situation still an uknown, that Ted will make Ryan Pickett a fair offer to come back one more year.

As poor as Raji played for The Packers in 2013, there will probably be at least one team who will offer him more money than Ted is willing to pay.

I f you can believe at least half of what you read, Pickett would just be part of a nice rotation as The Packers transition to younger guys.

As always, a team needs a few of those grisled old veterans to show the young guys how to play the game.

Again, Jolly is the ?. Is he healthy? Will he receive an offer too much for Ted to match?

I woould prefer Jolly and Pickett both back for one more year, if only one comes back, I guess I would have to lean toward Jolly.

BREAKING: Packers Looking to Stay Same Size at Quarterback
Green Bay, WI - February 22, 2014 5:30 PM CT

With Rodgers under contract for 6 more years and no signs of a blockbuster trade in the works, ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that Packers GM Ted Thompson has found his ideal size at quarterback. "At 6'2", Rodgers is tall enough to see over the offensive and defensive lines to effectively scan the field, while not being so tall that he can't find a comfortable butt height with his center," said Schefter on ESPN's First Take.

The Packers have questions, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. There will undoubtedly be changes to the team, but we know size at the QB position will not be among them.

Pickett can take a walk, but Jolly has a lot less mileage than others his age, and proved last season he still can do the job. I thoroughly expect him back with the Packers.

As for Sutton, I remember when he played for Arizona State against the Badgers, and I did not have a high opinion of him. If he's still there in the 4th round or lower, maybe, but I doubt he will last near that long.

    After reading this:

I have come to the conclusion that todays journalist has a deadline to meet and will just go with whatever will bring the most hits to their column.

Gonna be real interesting to come back to these articles after FA is over just to see how accurate any of them are.

I wonder if Mike and Ted meet every morning and decide who to talk trash to, just to get a laugh when that writer posts his column for the day.
