I really don't understand the love for Richardson at safety, at all. I understand he's no MD Jennings, which that in and of itself is a huge positive. But I still haven't seen much positive from the guy. He looks like an average 3rd or 4th string safety AT BEST.

As for not seeing much positive, then you obviously missed the preseason games, which is a bummer for you because the guy was constantly around the ball making plays. That is what got my attention. It seemed every play, he was there in on the tackle. I took notice to that.

Does that mean he's going to be Nick Collins or Ed Reed? Nope, not at all, but for me and many others, it is something we can HOPE translates into something positive for the Packers at the Safety position. Because lets be honest, there isn't a whole lot of "positivity" in the backend lol.

If the Packers go into next season expecting Richardson to be an effective starting safety, it's going to be another long year of safety play. I suppose he could make an astronomical jump this off season, but that seems highly unlikely to me. In reality, he'll probably improve a little, and still be an average back up safety, at best. Personally, I thought Banjo looked a little better, and even that wasn't great. The Packers have to get substantially better at that position unless they find a way to have four elite pass rushers, which obviously isn't going to happen either.

There's not a safety on the Packers roster that should be starting other than Burnett, and he's only average, too. The Packers need to find their number one safety, because right now, they don't have one.

How did this get from Jairus Byrd to Sean Richardson?

Richardson really did play like dogshit, as did Jennings and McMillian. Morgan Burnett, on the other hand, was at least decent. Having a quality COVER Safety paired with Burnett - which Byrd certainly would be, and Richardson wouldn't ever be - would solidify the whole back end of the defense.

That plus a D Line without Raji and Pickett, and a quality ILB in the draft, and suddenly our D has the possibility of being decent.

Saying Richardson played like dog shit makes me before you don't know good safety play. Oh wait, he didn't light it up with interceptions therefore he's dog shit. Got it.

Regardless of Richardson potential, Packers need to sign Byrd.

That adds up to somewhere around 30 million tied up in the secondary next year! I know people on here keep saying Tramon will/could/may restructure (based on no evidence that he would, that I'm aware of), but even if he did, that is a tremendous amount of money to be tied up in those four spots with looming contracts for Jordy, Cobb, and many others.

You don't get to keep the money, my lord. Anyhow, I'd rather Brian Orakpo than Jarius Byrd.

We got our splash free agent years ago and Reggie delivered us a Lombardi Trophy - and then we lucked out with Woodson for another Lombardi Trophy. Asking for more is just being greedy and a fiscal impossibility.

The Washington Redskins are unlikely to fix all their problems in one free-agency cycle. But just improving a roster that went 3-13 this season is sure to absorb a healthy chunk of the team's salary cap.

Thankfully, now the franchise has emerged from two years of restrictions; it has up to $33,581,070 worth of cap room, according to figures from Spotrac.com.

Sorry Dakota
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I'm thinking a TJ Ward + Scott Chandler would be a better value than Byrd.
