Like I said, If I had my choice it would be Jones but you are right Starks should be a lot cheaper. I just hope we don't lose both of them. With them our WR and RB positions are top 5 in the league without a doubt. Without them they drop to maybe around 10 or so. That is certainly not bad and for the most part I could live with it but when the opportunity is there to have at least in the top 5 it would be a shame to lose it. We already have a top 5 QB (I know I know top 1 but I am allowing for argument) so it would be nice to be able to compliment him.

The wildcard could be Aaron Rodgers. While I really like James Jones it could be the Rodgers will be able to make just about any WR look good. If that is the case why not take a chance on a rookie or cheaper FA and stick with Starks to boost the RB spot.

I wonder what we could get in trade for Franklin. I'd put him 4th among our RBs, and he didn't show much ability as a kick returner. A 4th or even 5th round pick would be worth getting for him.

I like starks and IMO our last game vs san fran I thought he could of done better then lacy as far as getting yards; quicker and more of a downhill runner. IMO they should of worn the niners down with lacy then switched to starks to rack up some yardage.

I said this preseason also - I dont like harris that much; not a fan of tiny RB with little muscle ... They cant block that well and cant break tackles too well. And preseason I was a big fan of lacy and thought he would be an excellent back and hoped MM would use him.

I was glad lacy got the ball and showed what he is worth.

this is about starks thou ... I hope we keep him ... rather let go of harris for sure ...
little worried about starks staying healthy but not like harris is mr healthy.

Starks is actually a good running back but they were ready to trade him and go with Harris, Lacy and Franklin even before Lacy emerged.
They haven't signed him to an extension and they have leaked comments about his work ethics and problems learning the plays. All this while we get comments about how important Dujuan Harris was going to be for the offense.

Get it real, they don't like Starks at all.

Yes they were ready to trade him but that was last off season and we were stacked at RB. I'm sure if someone would have come up and said we want Harris (or Green) they would have traded them instead if the offer was decent.

They haven't signed him to an extension because they have a loaded backfield and they can afford to play the wait and see game. If he gets a nice offer in FA let him go. Besides, Starks knows he will never be the #1 guy in Green Bay and the Packers know he will never be the #1 guy so he may not have been all that interested in an extension if he thinks he can go somewhere else and play a bigger role.

I may have missed the comments about his work ethic and problems learning the plays but I don't there were any questions this year.

The bottom line for me is Starks has proven he is a very capable backup/relief back and if he is willing to play the role and I would rather see him in 2014 than Harris.

Franklin had very little time to show what he could do but he did gain 100 yards in 1 half of playing time. I don't think they will give up on him just yet.

Let James Starks walk, I would have no problem with that.
Whether or not to bring him back would be decided by price, sign him for a veteran minimum or close to and let him stay, but paying 2 mil a year for a backup running back who cant stay healthy is not money well spent in my opinion.

The headline makes me laugh. The only player the Green Bay Packers can't let walk is Aaron Rodgers. Starks had a pretty good year, but hardly a person who we can't move on from should his salary demands be something that does not make cap sense.

dfosterf (14h) : Just gotta figure out how.
dfosterf (14h) : Could have been a worse start, so there is that.
beast (15h) : Yeah, someone tell the Packers football season has started, seems like they weren't ready for it
Mucky Tundra (15h) : Sooooooo many penalties
Mucky Tundra (15h) : It may only be preseason, but this game is a trip to the dentist

Zero2Cool (23h) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (23h) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here
dfosterf (7-Aug) : to herd cats or goldfish without a bowl. They reminded me of the annual assembly of our fantasy league
dfosterf (7-Aug) : out on a field trip, outfitting them with little yellow smocks. Most of the little folk were well behaved, but several were like trying
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon on the waterfront here in Alexandria, Va. A daycare company took about 15 three/four year olds
wpr (7-Aug) : seems faster. yay
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Wife of reason posted on the in/out thread on fleaflicker that both she and vor are in

Mucky Tundra (7-Aug) : Tbh, I can never tell the difference in speed unless it's completely shitting the bed
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Hey i didn't know we could trade picks in fantasy
Mucky Tundra (3-Aug) : Update: Rock has tried a cheese curd, promises it's not his last
