Hell no we shouldn't waste our once in a lifetime quarterback, but Rodgers hasn't been blameless. No he hasn't had the greatest protection, however he has a track record of holding onto the ball too long. That really leaves your linemen in a tough situation a lot of the time. The defense has been a liability for too long and the coaching staff has shown that they intend to do everything they can to fix that. This will be a make or break year for the defense.

TT is not wasting Aaron Rodgers. He is balancing long term success vs. short term success. We made Aaron Rodgers the highest paid quarterback because he is the best quarterback. With the money spent on him we cannot afford the best free agents. SF and SEA are popular as model franchises, but in my opinion this is bolstered by the fact that their QB's are/were paid peanuts. Kaepernick signed a team friendly deal, but its still going to decrease their total payroll. Soon Wilson will be done with his sub 700k per year rookie contract, how much will he be paid? Bottom line, those teams will be ripped apart eventually.

TT is not wasting Aaron Rodgers. He is balancing long term success vs. short term success. We made Aaron Rodgers the highest paid quarterback because he is the best quarterback. With the money spent on him we cannot afford the best free agents. SF and SEA are popular as model franchises, but in my opinion this is bolstered by the fact that their QB's are/were paid peanuts. Kaepernick signed a team friendly deal, but its still going to decrease their total payroll. Soon Wilson will be done with his sub 700k per year rookie contract, how much will he be paid? Bottom line, those teams will be ripped apart eventually.

"Balancing" in this case is a euphemism for "wasting Aaron Rodgers"... when Aaron is gone and there's not another Brett or Aaron the next GM will be blasted for not winning as many divisional championships as TT.

Long term thinking is necessary but to not do all you can while you have the best ever is nothing other than a waste. What are you saving things for? For when he's gone? I like my EKG with peaks and valleys. Ted Thompson is a flatliner... just steady as she goes.

We could find out this year. The broncos went all all in as far as I'm concerned. Already paying Manning, and paying big bucks for Talib and Ware in free agency. Even if they win the superbowl(big if considering last year) is it worth it? They are unsustainable and facing a major rebuild. Would you trade 1-2 years of all in super bowl for a decade of contention? I would not.

Exactly. And some of the comments in here insinuate that the Packers brass doesn't want to win now. I just can't see how someone can look at this team right now and say that we have no chance of winning the super bowl this year. Hyde catches that would-be pick last year and who knows what happens. We have as good as chance this year than we ever have.

I greatly admire what Denver did this offseason... they were dominant on offense all year. Setting records. D wasn't good enough...so what do they do? Address the defense with studs. You left out TJ Ward. Denver realizes Peyton is near the end.

Rodgers end could come on any given play in any given game. I said it in another post but Packer fan has become complacent. Taking things for granted. The window is NOW and always is just NOW despite the belief to the contrary. I know I would gladly trade a SB win for a few years of downtime. It sure beats watching a string of one and dones and a whole bunch of bad defense year after year.

To me it's kind of like the person who goes through school and gets A's and B's and tells themselves that that's good enough when if they really went for it they could've been straight A's. Everyone is wired differently. Too many fans and our org on the whole is satisfied with being above average when we have the main tool (12) to hoist our namesake's trophy many times. ...and the better idea is to shoot for long term above average? Just a different mindset.

Why is it that the Packers can pay Rodgers and Matthews and Nelson and a host of other guys and yet fans think they can stay competitive but as soon as Seattle and San Fran have to pay their QBs they are going to fall apart.

The Packers paid Rodgers more than Keapernick and Wilson will be paid, how come we won't be ripped apart. Oh, that's right, its because we are the Packers and we are the only team that knows how to do it right.

When you sell out every year with a huge waiting list, when you are near the top of merchandise sales, when you have a national and even global fan base there isn't much incentive to tap into your reserves and go for big name players. There is no way to increase revenue any more by spending the extra money on better players.
