I dunno. I still say we have 53 players on our roster in which 45 are active on game day and that's who I put the responsibility for any win or loss as well as the coaching staff.

You're right he isn't blameless. But in the same breath that you say stats are meaningless, you highlight two instances where interceptions were thrown. On the interception against the Bucs, he had instant blindside pressure. Today, the 3rd and 19 (wherein the Falcons dropped 8 back into coverage) followed an intentional grounding play that featured -- gasp! -- instant blindside pressure.

That doesn't change the fact that Rodgers threw the pick on the next play. That's on him. All I'm trying to do is add a little subtext to the situation.

"RedSoxExcel" wrote:

I see your point and I probably went a bit overboard and for that, that is my fault. And there are a lot of other reasons we're 2-3 too. Kerry Collins is 5-0, so its not all about your QB. But twice being down by 3 or less in the 4th and we failed. Your QB has to be part of the blame IMO.

I was just frustrated by the fact that so many people are putting so much blame on the defence and the o-line, etc and none on Rodgers and then pointing to his stats. He had the ball down 20-17 with 5 mins left in the 4th quarter. Even though its 3rd and 20, you don't need a first down and I could see if the throw was high risk but high reward or something.

BUT the throw was terrible and the choice was terrible. The Defence was on the bench at the time and IMO (just my opinion) o-line held their own on that play. If you want even more time, this is the NFL.

"Rios39" wrote:

I'm sorry you just can't blame a QB that has thrown 3 TD passes a 109 Passer Rating and 313 yards. It's as simple as that. The Defense is allowing running backs to get about 180 yards a game. That's all there is to it. You don't stop the run, you don't win football games at this level.

"RedSoxExcel" wrote:

I think we should just agree to disagree, lol. I don't think I'm getting my piont across clearly, so lets just forget about it. I'm not saying that the loss was only Rodgers fault. There are many reasons, the o-line and the pass defence is certainly part of it. Not to mention the punter, coaching, penalites, etc. But its just IMO, to not include Rodgers (as part of the reason we lost - not THE reason) when he throws an INT like that, I don't get it.

It's a tough league. Being a QB is tough. But 5 mins left, down 3, in the 4th quarter at home. Your expected to win. If you don't and especially when you throw an INT like that, your deserve SOME of the blame - just like Favre would be jumped on for something like that.

I was enjoying this forum till the anti Rodgers people showed up . I left the other forum because of the Favre groupies. I was hoping they would stay there and continue their Rodgers, TT,MM and Packers bashing without it spilling over in here. I guess that's too much to ask. (Rust never sleeps and cancer spreads)

Everyone here knew Rodgers and the Packers would have some growing pains. Everyone here knew we would have a tougher schedule this season.
We didn't expect as many key injuries as we have had but that's football.
The point is that this is a team effort. Packers win and loose as a team.
Rodgers is our QB and is doing a pretty good job so far. Especially for this being his first year as a starter.

Brett is great but he isn't a Packer anymore and never will be again.
Get over it or move on to the Jets. I'm sick of the whinning about Brett.
When we were loosing games with Brett I didn't whine about wanting another QB. It wasn't all on Brett and these losses aren't all on Aaron. This is a team sport and unless someone on that team is playing very badly we should support them.

Go ahead and support Brett (I do) but stop coming in here and trying to say we are loosing because of Aaron. We aren't. We are loosing because as a team GB isn't playing sound football on either side of the ball.

How many times was Brett Favre picked off when playing from behind??? Geez, Aaron Rodgers has exceeded many people's expectations. He did have that int but later with only a few minutes left in the game, didn't he lead the team down the field for a quick TD to pull us within 3? It is so easy to point to the negatives, but Aaron Rodgers impressed me playing with a bum shoulder.

I promised Krazy i would be nice so Rodgers did an OK job with the garbage time TD again like against Dallas but hey his stats are looking ok thats all that counts right folks? I thought this was about the Packers as a whole not one guy.

I don't put it all on A-Rod. The O-Line stinks, we are thin on Def, Frost stinks, etc.

However we had a QB that could overcome that at one time, we don't anymore. A-Rod isn't a game changing QB. Just my observation.

If you expected Aaron Rodgers to be a game-changing QB at this point in time, you've probably been blind your entire life. Either that, or you just don't know pro football.

I don't see anybody blaming the defensive line for a lack of a pass rush. What about Mike McCarthy calling all those pass plays with an INJURED quarterback and a running back who seemed to be doing well?

For a coach who emphasizes running the ball and stopping the run, I'm surprised nobody finds it alarming that he calls plays as if he still had Favre on the team.

Reading the forum tonight, I think we have blamed almost every aspect of the Packers team.

Who have we not blamed yet?

Ok... I will take a crack at it.

1. The field crew.

I noticed in the 4th Quarter the paint on the 30 yard line marker was wearing away. Visually for the Packers that could have cost them a first down due to lack of precise field position knowledge.

The Freaking ground crew need to step up. Paint consistently.

2. Parking attendants.

I was not there but I heard the gates opened 13 minutes late. That is enough time for 3 more beer. If the parking attendants did there job the crowd would have been 3 Beer louder. That could have been the difference in the game.

3. The Vendors in the stands.

Jesus... Sit down and shut up when the Falcons are third and long. You are distracting the crowd. The crowd needs to be loud and a force. It is not as if you guys are working commission? And if you are working commission, Ted change that now $10 bucks an hour sounds good to me.

4. The children of Green Bay.

Listen you little snot nosed wanna be's. Stop showing up with your bicycles. Perhaps if you made them walk to practice this week they would have appreciated the opportunity to practice, and been in better game day shape.

5. The public address announcer.

I have no idea what your name is, but get with the program. Instead of saying "3rd down and 5 Atlanta" Say "Third down and no fucking chance Atlanta." It is your God Damn Job to fire up the crowd.

This loss was a loss caused by the breakdown of the whole Packer organization.

But I especially blame those little snot nosed rug rats for giving Packer players their bicycles.

Rodgers will be okay. Like some of you have already said, this' his first year of starting. He's played very well up to this point. So far he's livin up to my expectations for him before the season started. He has his flaws like holding onto the ball to long but with game expierience he'll get better. The team isn't playing very well, the injuries hurt us but we have talented guys that can step up and play and we're jus makin mistakes. Rodgers keeps saying it, we havent played a complete game yet. I didnt think it would take this long to get the guys to gel but that happens when u have a young, new QB. I predicted we'd be 9-7 and im rethinking that now. I just dont believe we'll have what it takes to make a playoff spot. The Bears are lookin good. If 3 straight losses can somehow wake this team up, we might have a good chance but i'm not expecting anything great this year. We'll be fine but I jus don't believe this our season. Even to make the playoffs, i hate to say it.I didnt expect so many injuries and the defense along with the rest of the team playing this bad. We have our hot steaks in games sometimes but we're always in a slump each game. To many 3&outs,long drives for the opposing offense, mental mistakes.. I jus hope we can turn it around.

At the end of the day this is what I care about:

Down 23-21 against the Bucs in the 4th quarter, 2+ mins left and picked off.

Down 20-17 against the Falcons in the 4th quarter, picked off.

"RedSoxExcel" wrote:

Simple. The defense and special teams shouldn't have this team in a hole in the 4th quarter.

27 pts to the Falcons? Really?

Lets not ignore that UP to those points, Rodgers was playing very well, and yet the rest of the team failed on magnificent levels.
