When it gets to the business side the GM has to draw a line in the sand when it comes to dealing with these issues. I don't see Ted rolling over for a player missing OTA's. So it's not all about what Shields deserves but more how Ted handles agents who want to force the issue.
Ted has always shown that a deserving player will get taken care of but he also has to send a clear message on how he deals with agents and players that make demands before he's ready.
He has to otherwise there will be a line at his door every year. It will be interesting to see how Shields agent deals with it when they get to the mandatory's and there's money to be lost.
My guess is Shields will show up, albeit pissed off, and shortly after Ted gives him a nice raise and everybody walks away with what they wanted.
