No quarterback in draft no big surprise for Packers

Green Bay --- Again, other teams hurried to secure back-up quarterbacks in free agency, in the NFL draft. And again, in Green Bay, there was no such urgency behind starter Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are content with Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman behind the 2011 league MVP, only adding Illinois State's Matt Brown as an undrafted free agent.

It only makes sense to focus on other areas of need first. There is only so much money and so many roster spots open. The back up QB for most teams will not get you to the promised land so take care of the other positions first. Then if the starting QB 🇦🇷 is healthy and you have a well stocked team to support him you have a greater chance of winning it all.

I'm intrigued with Matt Brown. He's got good fundamentals for the QB position. I just don't think Graham Harrell or B.J. Coleman have that. Plus he's got that body you look for in a QB. Not to say Harrell or B.J. can improve, I just wanna see if this kid can push for a job right away.

I like Harrell, he's worked hard to develop. That being said, I will be disappointed and suprised if Coleman can't beat him out this fall. I like Coleman's size and arm.

One of my close friends went to high school with Matt and is still really close with him, so we are going to see the Pack play in St Louis during the preseason. I'd be shocked if he makes the roster, especially since we typically only have 2 QB's active on gameday. I really hope he lands on the PS and goes through McCarthy's famous school a couple of offseasons and see how he progresses.
