In the wake of the Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews contract extensions, many of us have been wondering how the Green Bay Packers will utilize their remaining cap space. How they use it will depend a lot on the current players who will be free agency following this season. Not counting the recent restricted free agent tenders and offseason signings, there are a total of fourteen Packers players entering their final year of a multi-year contract.

Thank God for the Datone Jones and Josh Boyd selections! Oh yeah, thank Ted and his scouting dept too. Personally, I doubt that we re-sign any of these players outside of Raji, unless Neal or Wilson have break out seasons.

No one should be expensive. Except Raji maybe. If we lose Neal, Pickett, or Wilson. Losing one of those guys wouldn't be to bad. I have to think it's obviously Pickett.

Perfect timing IMO. Go out and prove your worth it and be rewarded with a much better deal than if they are not retained and have to hunt for a team and find a roster spot.
I predict Neal will stick. I think he will have a very solid year for them.

Neal has the potential to break out and deserve a new contract. Jolly is unknown, but he's not exactly in a position to negotiate. Who knows, maybe he'll kick some ass, but that remains to be seen. His age is also getting to be up there.

Is Raji a FA after this season? Rotoworld had this for Raji's contract

2013: $4.49 million,
2014: $2.1325 million (Voidable Year),
2015: Free Agent

The big question is... who has control of that voidable year?

If Packers then they're probably going to keep him for that year or use it try to keep his next contract to be lower.

As far as guys the Packers need to resign before the start of 2014...

answer

CB Shields

I think the Packers put a 2nd round tender on him, meaning if another team signed him the Packers could match the contract and/or get that teams 2nd round pick (next year?... I think) ...

But no one signed him...

RFAs normally get offered and sign one year deals until they become UFA (unrestricted FA) which will be next season for Shields (and D-Smith)

I think D-Smith signed his one year offer... Shields as far as I know hasn't as of yet... but no other teams can sign him no more.

So Shields has to sign with the Packers or nobody.

Some rumors that Ted Thompson tried to get a long term deal done with D-Smith and Shields before going after the Rodgers and Matthews contract and some rumors the Packers are looking into maybe a long term deal with Raji as well but nothing has looked like it will get done soon but the Packers still could as they got some cap room left over so it could. Just have to wait and see...

Most likely Shields will sign his one year offer sooner or later, unless the Packers are offering him a long term deal that he likes more.
