A year or two ago, I told you guys that I took my Dad to chemo. The night before, I said, when I got to his house, he was like a kid.. all excited for a boys night (even though it was 2am) with pizza and his homemade hot chocolate I grew up loving. Of course, I indulged. After posting that story (I tried finding it but it was a while ago), I remember Wayne saying how I needed to make sure I got that recipe from Dad and to share it.
Well, I've been missing Dad a lot lately, so I've been looking at his Facebook page and reading through the posts here about him.. and ran across something he posted on my Facebook 9 days before he passed away:
"1/4 C Cocoa
3/4 C Sugar
1/2 Stick butter (the real macoy)
1/4 C milk (I prefer whole)
1 squirt or cap full of Vanilla
In a small pan, gently heat cocoa and sugar, stirring constantly. Add stick of butter when sugar hot to the touch but not burned. Stir until butter well melted. Add milk. Medium heat stir constantly. Bring to a boil, lower heat for one minute. Pull off stove and add vanilla extract. ENJOY!"
Thank you, Wayne. Seriously. If you never posted in that thread those months ago, I would have never thought of asking for the recipe. And I wouldn't have the opportunity to go on a journey of my childhood with Dad every time I ate ice cream and Dad's Hot Chocolate.
Thanks to TheViking88 for the sig!!
