Surprised no one posted in nearly two days. Anyhow, I'm thinking ...

Hey, don't question me, it worked last week.

The one big surprise on the injury report for this week has already been discussed...yes, Aaron Rodgers does appear on it. No, you shouldn't be concerned. From all the quotes coming out of 1265, it sounds as though this is a very minor injury. One that causes him to miss a bit of practice and rest, but not one that should keep him out of the game or limit him on Sunday. Now that's out of the way let's go through the rest of the injury report:

Name Position Injury Practice Status
Jermichael Finley TE Shoulder Limited Participation
Alex Green RB Shoulder Limited Participation
Davon House CB Shoulder Full Participation
Greg Jennings WR Groin Did Not Participate
Nick Perry OLB Knee Did Not Pariticipate
B.J. Raji DT Ankle Did Not Particiapte
Sean Richardson S Hamstring Limited Particpation
Aaron Rodgers QB Calf LImited Participation
Sam Shields CB Shin / Ankle Did Not Participate
D.J. Smith ILB Knee Out
D.J. Williams TE Hamstring Limited Participation

Besides Rodgers, there is one other surprise to be found here and that is the listing of Alex Green. The good news is that he still had limited participation...the bad news is that he's apparently dinged up. Not good, especially considering that other than Green the Packers have James Starks and the newly acquired Johnny White.

This report also makes it doubtful that this week will mark the return of Sam Shields, B.J. Raji, or Nick Perry. But hey, we might get Davon House back.

In other injury related news, this week marks the return of Andrew Quarless and Frank Zombo to the team for practice from the PUP list. I would imagine Derek Sherrod should be returning as well, but he was not listed by PFT so who knows.

On the other side the list isn't quite as long....

Name Position Injury Participation Status
Danny Amendola WR Shoulder Did Not Participate
Mario Haggan LB Thigh Did Not Participate
Wayne Hunter T Back Did Not Participate
Janoris Jenkins CB Back Did Not Participate
Rodger Saffold T Knee Did Not Pariticpate

It's a bit early to get a full sense of what these injuries, but there are a few things to be taken from this report. First, is the injury status of Danny Amendola. Sam Bradford does not have many good targets to throw to right now, and Amendola was his one reliable WR. Without him the Rams offense could be pretty anemic.

The other is the injury status of Janoris Jenkins. I wrote today about the match up of depth vs. depth, the Packers receiving corp and the Rams cornerback unit. If the Rams aren't at full strength there that could open things up in the passing game.

Rodgers on the Rams..

5. Are the Rams an emerging team in the NFL?

RODGERS: I think so. They're very well coached. They've played a little bit quicker at home, which is natural because you're going to get that extra kind of half-step from the crowd noise. But they've got a good pedigree to have a good defense. They can cover, they have guys that get after the passer really well and when you have a middle linebacker like (James) Lauranaitis who's playing at a very high level, that kind of brings it all together. They've got the right guys in the right places. I think they're primed to really continue to take off under Coach (Jeff) Fisher with the young talent that they have.

Rams 3-3,Packers are 3-3, this seems to be the year of true parody.

Only 2 AFC teams have winning records after 6 weeks(that's just crazy).

Playing on the road is never easy, Rams play much better at home.

Packer Offense "on paper" looks to have the better talent, on defense not that much of a difference.
The young guys play the way they did last week then yes Packers should win this game, but with youth you don't get consistency, let's hope they build on last weeks successes.

Packers 31 - Rams 21

Clay Matthews should probably consider this a compliment. The St. Louis Rams dressed one of their practice squad guys in a blond wig at practice today in order to help them prepare for the Green Bay Packers linebacker.

The wig was a cheap, curly number, but the message was pretty clear: Pay attention to the guy with the long blond hair.

“That’s a team-issued deal,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. “I’ve done that in the past, particularly with Troy Polamalu. When you’re playing great players like Polamalu and Matthews, you like to know where they are on the field, and that helps.”

Linebacker Sammy Brown, who got the honor of pretending to be Matthews, didn’t really enjoy the new hair.

“I had to take it off,” Brown said. “That thing was burning my face.”

The Rams have given up 18 sacks this season, which is the third-most in the NFL. Of course, the Packers have given up 23, which ranks 31st.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
