The one big surprise on the injury report for this week has already been discussed...yes, Aaron Rodgers does appear on it. No, you shouldn't be concerned. From all the quotes coming out of 1265, it sounds as though this is a very minor injury. One that causes him to miss a bit of practice and rest, but not one that should keep him out of the game or limit him on Sunday. Now that's out of the way let's go through the rest of the injury report:
Name Position Injury Practice Status
Jermichael Finley TE Shoulder Limited Participation
Alex Green RB Shoulder Limited Participation
Davon House CB Shoulder Full Participation
Greg Jennings WR Groin Did Not Participate
Nick Perry OLB Knee Did Not Pariticipate
B.J. Raji DT Ankle Did Not Particiapte
Sean Richardson S Hamstring Limited Particpation
Aaron Rodgers QB Calf LImited Participation
Sam Shields CB Shin / Ankle Did Not Participate
D.J. Smith ILB Knee Out
D.J. Williams TE Hamstring Limited Participation
Besides Rodgers, there is one other surprise to be found here and that is the listing of Alex Green. The good news is that he still had limited participation...the bad news is that he's apparently dinged up. Not good, especially considering that other than Green the Packers have James Starks and the newly acquired Johnny White.
This report also makes it doubtful that this week will mark the return of Sam Shields, B.J. Raji, or Nick Perry. But hey, we might get Davon House back.
In other injury related news, this week marks the return of Andrew Quarless and Frank Zombo to the team for practice from the PUP list. I would imagine Derek Sherrod should be returning as well, but he was not listed by PFT so who knows.
On the other side the list isn't quite as long....
Name Position Injury Participation Status
Danny Amendola WR Shoulder Did Not Participate
Mario Haggan LB Thigh Did Not Participate
Wayne Hunter T Back Did Not Participate
Janoris Jenkins CB Back Did Not Participate
Rodger Saffold T Knee Did Not Pariticpate
It's a bit early to get a full sense of what these injuries, but there are a few things to be taken from this report. First, is the injury status of Danny Amendola. Sam Bradford does not have many good targets to throw to right now, and Amendola was his one reliable WR. Without him the Rams offense could be pretty anemic.
The other is the injury status of Janoris Jenkins. I wrote today about the match up of depth vs. depth, the Packers receiving corp and the Rams cornerback unit. If the Rams aren't at full strength there that could open things up in the passing game.
