Rodgers seems kind of pedestrian at times during the first two games. Saw this on Bleacher Report . He is doing a little better than I thought he was. That's good news.

Here is a breakdown of his stats through two games in each of the past five seasons in Green Bay:

2012: 52/76 522 yards, 3:2

2011: 55/65 620 yards, 5:0

2010: 38/60 443 yards, 4:2

2009: 38/67 445 yards, 2:0

2008: 42/60, 506 yards, 4:0

there are more numbers for those of you who love to crunch them. enjoy.

Our expectations for Rodgers have become, unreasonable. The last 1 1/2 years have been so good, it seems like many expect him to be almost perfect all the time. Reality is, sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way. There have been times, when almost any ball thrown was caught. Where defenders were just a bit off on getting a hand to knock down a pass or pick one off.

His Pick against SF. He has made passes like that many times, where the LB just wasn't able to get there, and this last time, they were. It happens. Much of that is why the defense struggled last year compared to the SB year. Look at Woodson. In 2010, when he blitzed from the slot, he almost always got to the QB. Last year, he got blocked on almost every attempt. It is not that Woodson forgot how to blitz, or all of a sudden started to suck, but just that luck swung away at that time.

The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

It's just a function of teams understanding how Capers and Woodson execute in relation to the entire defense, and the best way to counter their skill sets. The corner blitz has been around forever, but they way in which they are executed and the talent of the folks doing them varies from team to team and player to player. As mentioned, the pressure from other areas also makes a big difference.

I mean it is not like Slocum knew Chicago was going to line up that way. If they handn't they would have just kicked the FG.

The other team dropping a crucial first down pass for instance is game luck. It happens.

Or, the other team missing the potentially game winning field goal.

Yes, there is luck in any sport. Just like there's luck in life.

Bears alter that formation.. the Packers probably burn a TO or just kick the FG.

So no.. I don't think it to be luck alone. It was a predictive call in which the Packers increased their chances with preparation ahead. Excellent blocking by Sitton and crew..

But yes, there was an element of luck involved.. all plays have luck to some degree.

But it is what you do to improve your odds that is the key.. in other words, making your own good luck.

Now the part about our expectations being to high.. I concur with 100%.

But I also think the replacement refs and their impact in passing game penalties, which has brought some teeth back into the defense is helping as well, especially with option based routes like we have. A tug of the jersey here.. a slight bump there, and the reads and timing become slightly off.

I think that is playing into some of the offensive numbers for us being down and the brand of passing game we have developed.
