I'm not ready to get rid of finley. Mostly, because they don't have anyone better to put in his place....yet.
I'd give him a few more games to get his act together. Then if he still shows he can't cut it, give him the ol' heave ho.
I really think he can still be a big factor for us. Again, IF he can get his concentration down.
The fumble was bad, but it was punched out of his hands. That could happen to anyone.
But he NEEDS to prove himself worthy of being on the team.
I hope he will still show himself to be worthy.

I hope Finley can turn it around and demonstrate those good hands everybody says he has - consistently. At this stage he is at the "prove it to me" point. Finley needs to "look in the mirror and take a good hard look at himself, I think he pissing away much of what he could be. If I was Rodgers he would be my last option until he proves he deserves better, at least on 3rd down. He simply kills too many drives. I definitely would keep Jennings over Finley.

I thought it was pretty funny when he DID catch the ball and not fumble. The crowd roared its approval. He took it good well. At least he realizes that he screws up. some prima donas don't. it would be the qb's fault or someone else.

The fumble may have been on him a bit credit goes to Tillman for the hit and stripping the ball out.

Another thing, did anyone notice where/how he was holding the ball on the fumble? He was inviting the player to punch it out. That's bad basics, mental error, or what ever you want to call it. A high school player would be admonished for a mistake like that.

Ironically if he didn't have it in close and had his arm stuck way out the side like a lot of guys do when the fumble, Tillman wouldn't have been able to knock it out. (poor fundamentals would have meant he kept the ball. go figure.)

The replay I watched he had it on the outside of the defender, but down by his hip, away from his body, nowhere near tucked away. The other thing he might have done was stiff arm the defender so he couldn't reach to ball. I'm not sure there was enough time to react and to that. There was definitely time to tuck it away.

I'm not going to harp on Finley for the fumble. It's only the second time he's fumbled in his career. The drops ... that's a different story. I was understanding of 2011 because he hadn't had the issue prior but to open the season with 3 drops in two games. I'm through supporting him until he shows "me" something to support.

When I look at the 20-21 sec mark on the video I see the ball in his left hand/arm. His index finger is on the point of the ball and the rest of the hand stretching out to cover as much are as it can which I thought was the recommended way too wrap your hand around the ball. The ball is planted up against his stomach/ribs. It is in the middle left portion of the bottom section of the number "8". He started to extend his right arm toward Tillman which could have mean a straight was was coming but there was not a lot of time. Instead be began to dip his right shoulder and lower his head to give Tillman to blow.

Tillman just did a good job of getting his hand between the body and the ball. (22 sec mark on the video.) Perhaps JerMike needed to have the ball in a little tighter. It is hard to tell.

So help out a poor OL and tell me what technique would have been better.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
