“It’s vitally important to setting up field position, the potential to score, things of that nature. When we start with the ball outside the 20 or an explosive return outside the 40, or punt returns for big gains, it really enhances our offensive production. So I think he’s a vital part of that, and as we move forward, we’ll always consider each players’ role in terms of play time.”

I think it's a good idea, given how awesome he is and how much other depth we have at WR. Although I'd like a look at Shaky Smithson as a returner.

It can't hurt to look mat ALL the guys you have for this position. But after last season, you KNOW you have a good one with Cobb.
And as we know, it's an important position.

As long as he's not coughing up the ball, yahoo! But I'd much rather have someone that gets you to the 20 every time but doesn't cough up the ball rather than someone that'll bust two TDs a year and get you to an average of the 25, that coughs it up 6 times a year. This offense can will its way past just about anyone, it's the defense and special teams that need to at the very least not lose us games if we want to make a deep playoff run.

Now that I'm done with the doom and gloom, isn't it great that after so many years of mediocrity, we have a great punter and return man (and kicker, but we had Longwell for a long while).

Still, I'd like to see what Smithson and Borel can do on returns.

Is there anyone else better at it on the roster? No.

Will he get better with more experience at returning? Of course.

You have to be prepared for any player getting injured.
You HAVE to have a back up plan.

You need someone that can advance a kick return that doesn't go into the endzone, but punt returner is one of the few roles (if any) I'd be content with simply not completely failing at.
