Dezman Moses has “caught the eye of scouts and coaches” in his short time with the team.

The article also claims that Terrell Manning plays OLB. Which, if true, is news to me.

Demovsky:

“I felt like this was the perfect position for me,” Moses said. “They’re looking for a pass rusher, and the position is exactly what I do — rush and play outside linebacker. So this is where I wanted to be all along.”

Dude played OLB earlier in his career, then got moved to DE when he switched teams. 6-foot-2, 249lbs

Me too. I usually end up wishing about 80 players could make the team! LOL
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

I get the feeling that we are going to cut guys who could be starters on other teams.

Again.

Wait, the Packers might possibly have a hidden gem?

I always enjoy these throughout the off season.

Demovsky

“I’ll tell you the guy that’s done an nice job for us picking things up and has some instinctive ability is Dezman Moses,” Capers said. “He’s done a nice job. He’ll be an interesting guy to follow how he does.”

Also worth nothing, outside linebacker Dezman Moses continues to impress. With Matthews taking it easy Tuesday, the undrafted rookie from Tulane saw some first-team reps at right outside linebacker opposite Nick Perry.

"He's been earning all his playing time," Matthews said. "Obviously, this is OTAs, but he has shown some athleticism out there. He's shown he can get after the quarterback, drop into coverage, be a natural athlete. He's got good size and strength. We'll see when the pads come on, but he's been doing well. I think he's shown the coaches as well as myself everything he needs to at the outside linebacker position."

JSO  again. (Just got back into town. Catching up on articles.)

Undrafted outside linebacker Dezman Moses was the surprise of OTAs/minicamp, something we'll get into later. By Thursday, with Clay Matthews resting, Moses was with the first-team defense at right outside linebacker. He logged a sack on Rodgers with an impressive first step. In these dog days of June -- where the line of contact is blurry -- Moses didn't take his foot off the gas.

“Whether I’m a rookie, a free agent or whatever it is, that’s just the way I play the game," Moses said. "Even in college, my senior year when my spot was solidified, I was a guy who always went out and practiced hard. That’s something that’s been instilled in me ever since I was a little guy. My dad always talked about, ‘You never want to take a day off.’ The first time anybody sees you play, you want to make a good impression. You only get one first impression.”

Terrell Manning played OLB in his college's very aggressive blitzing 4-3 defense. PFT is reporting he's an OLB because that what most draft stuff says he is (because he played it in college and probably would still be playing it if he were drafted by a 4-3 defense team). It's just that PFT runs into the problem of trying to cover all 32 teams... too much to cover to get all the little details like a late round pick moving from OLB to ILB.

“I felt like this was the perfect position for me,” Moses said. “They’re looking for a pass rusher, and the position is exactly what I do — rush and play outside linebacker. So this is where I wanted to be all along.”

I think there is more to that comment that most see. I think he's saying an aggressive OLB position is best for him, which he hasn't played before.

At Iowa they don't blitz their LB too much so it's more of a conservative defense. One thing I find interesting about the Iowa defense is that don't go to the nickel package as much, but ask one of their OLBers to help in man coverage, sometimes against a WR even. (so from that time Moses might know more about coverage than others)

I find it interesting Moses got 1st team snaps over Walden. I'm wondering if they're just trying to push Walden (and maybe Zombo) or is Moses simple out playing Walden. (Matthews and Zombo haven't been practicing as they're resting/recovering or something).

Moses made a comment I liked, saying he's bull rushing in OTAs... though I'm not sure they're allowed to bull rush in OTAs (and he said some of the vet OTs didn't like it, that he was), but the reason I liked it, meant he was willing to bull rush meaning hopefully he's willing to mix it up with the OL. The question is what's gonna happen once OTA start and the OTs start going 100% back at these guys.

Walden moves well but simple isn't willing to mix it up and get physical, which LBers need to do, even more so in 3-4 defenses. Zombo was more than willing to mix it up but he hasn't been able to stay healthy.

Also I like hearing about Moses but I don't like hearing about him and not much on the Perry front... how is Perry doing? I'm sure it's hard going up against Bulaga at times but they do rotate at times. No news on him?

Based on what I’ve seen on video, he has more upside than Walden, Zombo, Francois and Jones and he’s a more natural fit at linebacker than So’oto and Lattimore.
